Does it matter which port you connect a device too on a switch?

Yes and no. Yes, you should not connect in WLAN part other cables except internet cable. No, you have other ports which are similar to each other and it doesnt' matter which of them you are using.

What is the difference between routable and nonroutable protocols?

A routable protocol contains a network address as well as a device address. Non-routable protocol, on the other hand, regulate the transfer of data and always makes use of interior routing system to transmit data.

What type of address is FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF?

That's called the "MAC address" or "Hardware address". It's a unique set of numbers assigned to a network device. Anything that access the internet whether phones, wireless cards, computers, etc, all have a MAC address.

The address with all one's (FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF) is the broadcast address. All devices on the physical segment will see and respond to a message with that destination.

What commands can be used to verify that inter-VLAN communications is functioning?

Using a simple show command will suffice to view that vlan's are configured properly. If the vlan's are configured properly on the routers as well as the switches, then the routers can talk to each other and so can the vlan's.

show ip route - Provides a snapshot of the routing table entries.

ping - verifies connectivity

Number of wires required to connect 'n' machine in ring topology?

for one machine no wire.

for 2 machines one wire.

for 3 machines two wire.

....

What cable UTP or STP is preferred by the industry?

The UTP (Unshielded twisted pair) cable is preferred; it's far less expensive to install in large amounts.

What is the requirement of class b structural back fill?

1)90% of maximum dry density should be achieved on each test.

2)Frequency of tests is one test per 845 square meter.

3)You could test the 1st layer and the layer in case of multi-layers.

When would a switch record multiple entries for a single switch port in its MAC address table?

A switch would record multiple entries for a single switch port in its MAC address table if it does not contain the Mac address of a particular destination in the address table. It will broadcast to all ports besides the port where entry comes from.

How do you interconnect two networks in the same geographical area?

It all depends on this geographical area. You could use two wireless routers. Given the distance isn't too far. 2 linksys routers with ddwrt firmware, put one both networks and that will be a good job.

If it is far, you could be looking at running a wire from one network to the next.

If neither of these are feasible you could look into VPN's.

Have you got servers...??

Which type of Network Address Translation allows a host on a public network consistent access to a specified private inside host?

There are three different types of NAT (Static, Dynamic, and Overloading). The one you're most likely talking about is static NAT. It provides a one to one mapping.

What does the transport layer header provide?

Provides values that enable different transport layer protocols to perform different functions

How is fiber optic lighting better than traditional pool lighting?

it can be much prettier. of course it also moves electricity away from water alway a good thing, but a properly installed 12 volt light is also very safe and much less expensive.

A fiber optic lighting rig can also provide light that is more evenly distributed through the pool and requires only one light source. Changing a burnt bulb is also much less of a hassle since the lamp is not below the water line.

Why is the size of a collision domain important?

Collision domains are really bad. Not only does each computer get everyone's frames, but only one PC can transmit at a time! Your total bandwidth is reduced every time you add a PC to the network. Your network will come to a screeching halt!

Briefly describe a peer-to-peer network and give examples of where this type of network can be implemented?

Peer-to-peer is one of the network communication models whereby each of the nodes involved has equal rights and capabilities to initiate a communication session. One can implement this model in a torrent network.
