Why do you tend to stereotype groups to which you do not belong instead of groups you do belong?
We usually stereotype groups to which we do not belong to. For example the poor usually stereotype the rich and the rich usually stereotype the poor. We tend to stereotype groups to which we do not belong instead of groups we do belong to because the more individuals in a group we know personally, the more difficult it is to believe a stereotype about them. When locusts swarmed in to eat Mormon crops what followed and ate them?
It was the Mormon Cricket, not locusts, that swarmed and began to destroy the Mormon's crops. The "Mormon Cricket" is actually not a cricket at all, it is a migratory shieldbacked katydid common in many western states. Mormon Crickets are known to periodically form large swarms, which is exactly what happened to the Mormons.
The Mormon's crops were saved by California Gulls, which came in and ate the crickets. Today, Utah's state bird is the California Gull, in honor of their saving the Mormon pioneers in this "Miracle of the Gulls".
Do locusts attract dragonflies?
Not really.
However a locust swarm can be so invasive that it disturbs all local wildlife and insect populations which may in turn cause dragonflies to be more active simply because they are being annoying by the locusts invasion. But than again, a locust swarm does that to many things.
What locusts attract most are birds, cats and other small animals which eat the locusts.
How does the female locust depend on soil?
Female locusts require soil to lay their eggs in. The heat of the soil incubates the eggs and this is where the larvae hatch from.

How are locusts mouth parts adapted for its eating?
The locust The locust has biting-chewing mouthparts and mainly lives on leaves of plants. The mouthparts consist of: a) The labrum or upper lip in front covers and protects the other mouthparts. It prevents food from falling out the mouth. b) The two mandibles or hard upper jaws have sharp, serrated edges. They move side- ways and rasp of minute pieces of food which are grinded and chewed and swallowed c) The two maxillae or soft lower jaws are used to hold and to push the food into the mouth. The maxillary palps are sensitive and taste the food. d) The labium or lower lip at the back prevents food from falling out the mouth. The labial palps selects, taste and handle food.
Why do some people eat locusts?
Locusts are plentiful and a good source of protein.
Everything is relative to the culture. We eat cows and they they are worshiped elsewhere. Some cultures eat dogs and we have them as pets. Sushi was disgusting to us at first and now it's the "in" thing.
Locusts closely resemble grasshoppers in appearance, yet are larger, measuring around 2 inches in length. What makes them different from their grasshopper cousins is that locusts can actually go into two behavioral states, depending on population densities and environmental conditions. Normally, locusts remain in what is called a "solitary" phase. But if favorable breeding conditions cause more young to hatch than usual, resulting in overcrowding and scarcity of food, or the locusts migrate to regions where the habitat is unsuitable, the insects will go through what is called a "phase change". This second state is called the "gregarious" phase where the locusts become agitated, begin to gather in very large numbers and finally evolve into a single migrating swarm, or plague.

I believe what you may be thinking of ("clear lacy wings") might be a cicada:

Many people who do not know what a cicada is will refer to it as a locust since they do come out every so many years (17-year-cicadas and 13-year-cicadas). Both insects feed on vegetation and migrate in swarms.
In short, a locust looks much like a large grasshopper :)

How can you get through to someone if they're scared of commitment?
If you really love this person don't trap them in a corner. Sit down or go for a walk and ask this person straight out to explain their fears. You'd be surprised what you might hear, but it's workable.
When I met my 2nd husband he was very shy and terrified of a serious relationship. He would stay over weekends in my apartment, but I have always been true to myself and after 2 years of this I simply said, "If you think you are getting milk for free without buying this cow, think again!" Ha, ha. I started dating someone else for a bit, and bango! We were married the next August and everything worked out just fine. Be prepared though that you are not mixing up commitment with the person simply not wanting to settle down at all or growing tired of your relationship and this is why you must sit down and have a good talk together. You'll know the truth from that.
Good luck Marcy
You "get through to him" by showing respect for him and what he is feeling. If you love him, then wait as long as you can. Once you cannot wait any more, you'll have to let him know. At that time, he'll probably need some time away from you to figure out how much you actually do mean to him or to shake him up and not take you for granted. If he doesn't come back or want to go farther with the relationship, odds are he would not have anyway.
