Apple key-shift-3 captures whole screen and saves image to desktop

Apple key-shift-4 Allows you to select a section of screen to save to desktop

To save to clipboard instead of save to desktop as an image, so you can paste into a document add the control key as well to either of those combinations.

The Kodiak version of Mac OS X was an early test version released in 2000 it was designed to expire in 2001, when the first official release of Mac OS X (called Cheetah) arrived, and will no longer work - so that could not be considered very user friendly.

To move a folder in Mac OS X you click the mouse button while pointing at the folder to be moved; while holding the mouse button down you drag the folder to the required position. If you have the Spring Loaded option turned on in the Finder preferences dragging your folder over another folder will automatically open the target folder so you can drag your folder into the new folder.

To move several folders together click the first folder and, if they are all next to each other, hold down the Shift key while you click the last one; or, if they are separated by other items, hold down the Command (cmd) key while you select the individual folders required. In reference to installation CDs or binaries, Universal refers to its ability to run on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. PowerPC binaries can only be run on Intel Macs via emulation, which can be quite slow.

In order to legally and easily boot Mac, you must have a Mac. If this is the case, and its operating system is Leopard or Snow Leopard, you can open the Boot Camp utility, partition the drive, insert your Windows 7 disk (either burned from the release candidate or purchased next month), and install.

If you have a PC with Windows 7, it is legally questionable whether you can install OS X on it (it goes against the license agreement), and it is also difficult. You may be able to find tutorials online.

Consider the following detriments to the Mac operating system, and see if you would still call it the "best" operating system.

1. Can you install it on any computer?

No. Mac OS X may only be run on a selective set of hardware known as a "Mac." Windows and Linux can be run on almost every computer on the market.

2. Does it support a large variety of hardware?

No. In addition to the above requirement of running on a Mac, OS X does not support most system expansions or peripherals. New sound cards, most video cards, networks cards, SATA controllers, and even DVD drives cannot be used with OS X. Windows supports virtually every hardware device in existence, and Linux supports almost as many, and on a far wider range of computing devices.

3. Can you use SLI (Scalable Link Interface) or CrossFire to increase the performance of your graphics card?

No. Even though you can use NVIDIA or ATI cards (but not off-the-shelf models) in a Mac, you cannot use these methods to increase the rendering capabilities of your Mac for gaming, 3D modeling, or video editing. Both Windows and Linux support SLI and CrossFire.

4. Is the version you are using going to be supported for a long period of time?

No. Apple supports their systems only until two newer ones are released, and then discontinue any kind of support, including security. OS X 10.3 was only supported for about four years. Windows 2000, released in 2000, will receive security updates until 2010, a period of 10 years. Windows XP, released in 2001, will receive security updates until 2014, a period of 13 years. Most Linux distributuions are free, so it doesn't matter when the old one is no longer supported. However, commercial Linux distribution like Red Hat offer support contracts of seven years or longer.

Boot Camp is about to be updated to support Windows 7 but some older Macs will not be able to run Windows 7. (See links below)

AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) files can be imported and edited on a Mac with an Intel processor and iMovie '08, Final Cut Express 4, or Final Cut Pro 6 or later versions. Details for importing will depend upon the particular Mac and the camera (or other source) containing the AVCHD files. (See links below)

If you are windows hit control, alt, and del at the same time. A window will come up and scroll down the menu to the last item, hit that, and a new window will come up showing the programs running. Highlight the one not working and hit exit. The program will close at that point.

OS not supported means that the software does not work with your current operating system. You may be able to update your operating system to the latest version or you may have to buy a new version of the operating system. If the latter you need to ensure that your computer is going to be able to handle the new operating system as older computers will have a slower processor, less memory etc. which may not suffice.

Why can't you? If they sell a downloadable game and you buy it it tells you exactly how to download it. Most company's that don't let you download it via the internet is usually because they either don't have the servers to handle it or they figure the downloads would take too long with the games getting as large as 2 or 3 gigs now.

I have the same thing. You cannot change the time or add more time without the admin's password. It is a mandatory, and without it, it will not let you do anything. Same for any other settings in Parental Controls.

An .ithmb file is the format used to store pictures on an iPod. There are several applications that can open .ithmb files such as File Juicer and Keith's iPod Photo Reader (See links below) but these programs only work on a Mac.

Possible, yes. Practical, no. OSx is not designed to run on a Windows machine and will not run on a normal Windows PC. However it might be possible to build a Windows PC that would run OSx if you chose the hardware correctly and did allot of hacking. Better to get an Apple computer and then you can run Windows on the Apple computer easily by using Boot Camp which comes preinstalled on an Apple computer or using software such as Parallels which you must purchase.
