THIS DOES NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION, AS IT DOES NOT APPLY TO THE MACINTOSH. There are three way(s) you (can)uninstall quicktime 7.2 [from Windows]

(The) First way (is to) Go to (the) control panel, (and) click on Add/Remove Programs(.) There you will find all installed programs in that add/remove programs(sic)

select quicktime 7.2 click on uninstall. Second method click on (the) start menu, (then) click on programs-> click on quicktime, (There should be a period here instead of a comma... but I shouldn't bother anymore.) there (caps.)you will find uninstall(.) click (caps.) on that. IF you are unable to uninstall by above two methods, Then

Insert quick time CD there it will ask modify, add, or remove

then click option remove and press next, it will sucessfull removed. (You know, on your Macintosh. This will all happen. On your Apple computer.) Answer Install QuickTime 7.5.5 into the same folder where QuickTime 7.2 is found. When asked, enter an administrator's password.

Is there a way to use new apps on an old mac?

The compatability of apps and Macs depends on how old either is. Apple keeps compatability for several years, but at some point the old apps simply won't run on the newest Macs. This is a moving timeline. There is not easy answer except that all new apps require an Intel CPU. But some apps reguire a 32 or 64 bit processor, so even if you have a fairly new Mac, it may not run all the newest apps that you think could/should run on it.

There is a site called oldapps.com where you can find some version of new apps that will work on older machines. Check the system requirements and good luck!

Xcode is a suite of software applications that aid the creation of software for the Mac. The actual compiler used by Xcode is the Gnu Compiler Collection (GCC) from the Fee Software Foundation. If you do not like the tools provided with Xcode the compiler can be run from the Terminal application (c++ yourSourceName.cc ), or any other suitable editor can be used with it. Other options include Eclipse or Intel's own compilers (free for evaluation). (See links below)

A new text file could then be constructed with the required address and commands and passed to XFoil - this would probably require a bit of AppleScripting to make it work as required.
