What dog gets along with a Maltese?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends on the personality of the dogs themselves. It also depends on if they are both boys or both girls. One boy and one girl will love each other. If they grow up as pups together they should be okay. You always have to expect fights, stop them fighting but it is only natural. They are trying to see who is the top dog. I had two dogs that were brother and sister and they fought their whole life. This doesn't mean that they will always fight, it just means that they will try to show dominance over each other eg. steal each other's food. I recommend that you don't get two males as they may fight to the death.

Why are Maltese dogs hypoallergenic?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No dog is "hypo-allergenic" but there are certain breeds that are low-shed and therefore better for allergy sufferers. Poodles are extremely low-shed, and Corgis shed a ton, so its hard to say what you would get out of mixing the two. If it truly a concern and you would like a mixed breed, I would suggest two low-shed dogs like the poodle and the bichon.

I have a corgi-poo. He sheds very little. If you really look at him you can tell he is a Welsh Corgi and a Poodle mix. He does however, have more of the fluffy fur as a poodle does. He requires more maintenance because of this. So it does just depend which gene he or she inherits.

Is a dog' s tongue really sterile?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Many vets believe this isn't true, but many people believe that indeed a dog's tongue can heal (although not sterile.) When we were kids in the 40's and 50's if my brother or I scraped our knee and it was slow in healing the dog would lick it (my mother told us it would heal it) and it did! I believe it does. If one thinks that dogs were once wild how then did they manage to heal some of their wounds? They licked them of course so there must be healing properties in their saliva.

Is a Maltese a good dog for a 12 year old girl?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It all depends on if your getting it as a puppy or as an adult. If you get a puppy, you can train it to be good with kids by having the kids around it a lot. If you get an adult, it might have trouble with kids already. That is not impossible to teach out of a dog but it will take tons of work.

How many breeds of dogs have blue eyes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Husky's are the only dogs with blue eyes but not all of them have blue eyes

wrong. Huskies are NOT the only dog breeds with blue eyes. Australian shepherds, border collies, dalmatians, to name a few are all dog breeds with the blue eyed gene. Blue eyes are genetic, any dog can get the genetics for blue eyes, but most dog breed standards consider blue eyes a fault or disqualification, but the list below are dog some dogs breeds that allow blue eyes.

Alaskan Huskies

Alaskan malamutes

American Indian dogs

Siberian Huskies

Australian Shepherds

Border collies ( in merles)

Catahoula Leopards

Collies / rough or smooth (in merles)

etc. There are other breeds that recognize blue eyed dogs in shows.

Any dog can have blue eyes since it is generic.

Alaskan Malamutes DO NOT have blue eyes. Only if they are mixed with something else. The only breeds that I know of that can have blue eyes are Siberian Husky, Australian Shepherd, Collie, Dalmation and Catahoula Leopard Dogs. If somebody knows any more, please add them.

What to feed a 5 week old puppy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

2nd Answer:

At 5 weeks, you can use a good name brand of dry puppy food and soften it first by letting it sit in some warm water. Then give to the puppy as a softened gruel. If you want to add some type of milk to it, use canned milk, mixed one part water to one part canned milk or use a regular puppy milk replacement such as Esbilac. Never use cow's milk as causes diarrhea. That is all that is needed to feed a 5 week old puppy. Offer food to the pup at least 4 times a day. The dry puppy food has more calories in it than canned puppy food. Just soften it up first and as the puppy gets older, then you can offer it just the dry puppy food, but be sure to use a good name brand, not some cheap grocery store puppy food.

1st Answer:

you can feed your puppy tin puppy food , cooked chicken things that are soft to chew and puppy milk as well is needed with every meal , Don't feed them hard biscuits as their digestive system at this age can not handle it , sometimes it can lead to constipation and if they push to hard they can get a prolapsed bottom witch needs to be surgery fix if it comes out all the way around . so stick to easy to digest foods, if you are worried about your pup getting the right type of food just check their poo make sure its not to hard or too runny a in between is what you want to see. I have raised pups from two weeks old on a bottle then about four and half to five weeks soft food and puppy milk they did really well on this, when the puppy is about six and a half weeks old try giving the pup samples of raw meat like dog mince to try and other soft foods until about eight weeks old and then at that age you can give the puppy biscuits (only puppy biscuits) a little at first . hope this helps you with your little puppy.

you should NOT be feeding dry food at five weeks they should still be drinking their mothers milk till about 9 weeks

Why do dogs drink urine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Possible Illness or reasons - Kidney disease, adrenal gland disease, diabetes

I disagree. Ferrets for Dummies, as well as a number of other sources say it's a normal, if somewhat disgusting, habit. If the ferret had diabetes, I might think it's possible due to spilling of sugar into the urine, but diabetes is very rare in ferrets. Where did the person who posted above get this information? Information was derived from the Ferret Health List (FHL) Yahoo groups

Where do get Maltese puppies in Dubai?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Answer 1.

I got my Maltese from pet mania.

Answer 2.

There are many bulk importers of small breeds of dogs including Maltese into Dubai from all over the world. However, i found that Pets Habitat LLc in Barsha is the only one that claims that they bring 'only home raised' puppies with certification that the puppies are free from heart murmur, eye issues, luxating patellas / loose knee problems, cleft pallets or any such serious health issue. Their price is not very low. Around 10,000 but i do know of friends who vouch for their claims to be absolutely true and they provide written detailed vet reports from leading vets of UAE. For example, a loose knee correction surgery in Dubai can set you back by AED 4-5000 if not detected early. If you are concerned about the origin and health status of the pup then i believe Pets Habitat is the best place to buy a small breed puppy in Dubai..
