UPDATE: After what seemed like an eternity of investigating...and not finding any updated info on Bear Grylls' Man vs. Wild "crazy shoes," I finally found out what he was wearing in Season 6: Arizona episode. They are not Merrells. They are not Scarpas. They are a European brand called Terra Plana VivoBarefoot Karibas. I guess Terra Plana discontinued this model, but hopefully they will reissue it. They are designed as minimalist footwear, kinda like Vibram Five Fingers, Merrell's Barefoot Trail Gloves, New Balance Minimus, etc. You can find the Terra Plana Aquas, which kinda resemble the Karibas, except they are low cut and seem more casual than the Karibas. I read some reviews that the Karibas are not very durable, but I guess Bear Grylls likes them. Hope my hard research paid off and you guys will start contacting Terra Plana to convince them to create a Bear Grylls Edition boot. That would be awesome. Long live BEAR GRYLLS.

It's a real TV show certainly and the fact it is a TV show designed to entertainment, it's entirely possible while everything is 'real' it could be staged realism for the camera.
