depends on how long you plan on owning the car. personally every vehicle i have is running full synthetic oil. Ask any one who has every taken apart an engine and theyll tell you how mcuh cleaner an engine running synthetic is compared to conventional oil.

The Mazda3 does not have a timing belt. Mazda has done away with timing belts in favour of timing chains which are designed to last the life of the engine

That's a rare occurence to have a car with no A/C. In a nutshell...A LOT OF MONEY!!

Two ways the Check Engine Light (CEL) can be reset: (1) use an OBDII scanner to reset it, or (2) disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable for about three minutes , then re-connect. The latter will make the engine run rough for a few miles because you will also be erasing information stored in the computer that applies to performance. After a few miles, the computer will "re-learn" and everything will be back to normal. If the CEL comes on again, you definitely need to take the vehicle to Auto Zone or another place that will scan the codes stored in the computer and give you the diagnosis of what's causing the CEL to come on.

4.3 quarts with Oil Filter. It's listed in your owners' manual under capacities

I know the owners' manual says 4.3, but it is incorrect. Even in the manuals, the table which lists oil capacity is preceded by the word, "approximate."

I own a Mazda3 with a 2.0, I self change the oil and filter. I recommend initially putting in 3.5 US quarts, with filter change. Then drive the car a short distance (5-10 miles). Park the car on level ground, shut it off, and wait at least 20 minutes. Then check the oil again. You'll have to add at most another 0.25 of a quart to bring it to the FULL line on the dipstick.

True capacity with oil filter change is about 3.7 US quarts.

How to change Mazda 3 Clock settings

To set the hour:

1) Put ignition in ACC or ON position

2) Press and hold "CLOCK" until beep sounds and "12 hr/24 hr" is displayed;

3) Press "SET" to select 12 or 24 hours (24 hours is military time)

4) Press "CLOCK" again while the selection is flashing "Hr ADJUST"

5) Press "SET" to select hour

6) Press "CLOCK" when done

Do the same to set minutes, but select Minutes in step 4

The 2004 Mazda Tribute has two different engines. The 4 cylinder engine uses 4.5 quarts. The 6 cylinder engine uses 5.5 quarts of oil.

The air filter is below the battery air duct. Pull up on the cover of the battery compartment to remove it. Unscrew the plastic "screw" attached to the air duct which is furthest towards the front left corner of the car. Once that screw is out the entire air duct will come off (no need to remove the other "screws"). Under that you'll see the air box. There are four metal clips (one on each corner) that you need to release before the cover will come loose. It will lift up only slightly without removing anything else from it, but that should be enough to slip the filter out and slip the new one back in. You may need to lift up the lower part of the cover (nearest the engine) to allow the filter to seat properly in the box. Reverse disassembly and you are finished.

Consult your owner's manual. If you don't have your manual talk to a local automotive technician. But a recommendation would be either 10W-30 or 10W-40.

One of the biggest benefits of a Mazda 3 is that it is low-priced, and looks pretty chic. It is pretty spacious inside, and looks cool on the inside and out. Gas consumption is pretty reasonable, too.

The oil filter is on the bottom side directly in front of the oil pan. You can not see the filter because of the deflector. They put a nice circular hole in the deflector so that you can access the filter but it is about four inches off which makes it almost impossible to access. The easiest thing to do is remove the front bolts so that you have better access to it.

you need to be more specific. are you talking about a wheel bearing? there are a lot of bearings in any vehicle simply to change a bearing is to slide the one off and slide the new one on (obviously you require assitance in more depth ie. how to remove something to access the bearing) would need to know what type/or where of bearing is in that case

I work for a Mazda dealership and there doesn't seem to be one avail from factory or as an accessory.

I'm in the middle of replacing the starter on my 2004 mazda 3 hatchback.

The starter is on the front of the engine. You need to remove the plastic covering from underneath the engine and look between the radiator and the front of the engine from below. You will see it. Hope this helps. It took me a while to find it. The top bolt is time consuming. You might be better off paying the labor for this one. I'm wishing I did.

You can find the filter at any autoparts store and most walmarts. It is an internal cartridge filter like you might find in a four stroke dirt bike. The more difficult problem for me has been removing the outer housing: you need a 76mm by 14 sided end cap wrench, tough to find.

i assume u have manual tranny. It's GL-4 75w-90. I seen alot of people use redline, but myself, i use purple oil. It helps a little. If u need the location of the drain plug and fill plug, the drain plug is when u face the front of the car, it's on the right hand bottom on the transmission. the bolt face down to the ground. very big bolt... I think is 23mm bolt ( correct me if I am wrong please) and the fill plug is facing forward to the front bumper at the middle upper of tranny. It's hard to fill the fluid if u have manual. U will need a funnel with extension. It will take sometimes to fill it. If manual tranny, you will need 3.04 Quarts of tranny fliud. I don't have info on automatic. Good luck

in the fuel tank , the fuel pump and filter is one unit that mcut be purchased together. its about 2704 and rated for >100,000mi
