Menstruation

Menstruation is the routine discharge, or release, of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus. This process occurs about once a month from the time a female reaches puberty until menopause. During pregnancy, the monthly menstrual cycle is absent while the womb nourishes the growing fetus.

1-10 how much does tampons hurt because you are 13 year old and so scared to use one?

No, they don't hurt unless you put them in incorrectly. You might want to use the ones with plastic applicators since they go in easier. You might not want to use a regular store brand if they are uncomfortable when they expand. Playtex is a good brand. All tampons come with a helpful instruction sheet explaining how to use them. Try to go with cotton if you can... it's better for you, but not by much since most tampons are composed of polyester. If the tampon is kind of dry when you try to insert it, put some intimate lubricant on the tip of it. Depending on how heavy your flow is you should start with the smallest size possible and try to limit super to overnight use ONLY.

All the stuff people say about Toxic Shock Syndrome is true. Some women have used them for 20 years and NEVER had a problem. There is such a risk of getting it, but you shouldn't be overly scared.

But, try to go back and forth between tampons and pads... whatever works best for you. both have their downfalls. Tampons are great during the summertime because they don't emit any odor because they are inside of you and cannot be seen while wearing a skirt or bathing suit. Not to worry, they generally cannot "disappear" inside you because there is a string from the outside of you connected to the tampon that you pull to remove it.

But, if it still hurts.... wait a little bit before using them, you may still be too slender and since your body will continue to change try them in 3 months or so. In that case, use a pad instead. Pads were used a long time before tampons ever came along.

Why does physical activity delay your period?

Not that I have ever heard of. I knew of a woman who claimed she could stave it off by doing pelvic floor exercises, but personally I think she was full of it.

What does it means if your period is dark?

It's the iron pills. Iron pills can also make your urine quite dark. Drink lots of water. Nothing to worry about.

What do you do if you have period pains?

1. Take an aspirin, such as Tylenol, Advil, or Excedrin (special pills like pamprin or midol aren't necessary, and many of my girls tell me they don't work anyway.)

2. Stretch to relieve the tension

3. Take a nice hot soak in the tub

4. Get a hot water bottle or heat source and place it on your stomach curling up in a ball and sleep it off

When you get your first period can there be brownish stuff instead of blood?

that happens before you get it! you only get it when it's just blood.

You are 4days late on your period and you always get it the same date every month Today you noticed you spoted twice a brown blood discharge could this mean you are pregnant?

It COULD be. Early signs of pregnancy include brown spotting, usually 5-12 days AFTER fertilization has occurred. Other signs of early pregnancy include tender breasts and feeling tired all the time.

Other reasons for missing or skipping a period include poor diet, stress, anxiety, or something as simple as having been sick recently with a cold or the flu.

Take a deep breath. Try to take a pregnancy test if you can. Like I said, brown spotting CAN BE an early sign of pregnancy; it can also be an early sign that you are about to start your period. There are lots of reasons to miss a period or have it come late.

Ever hear the phrase "a watched pot never boils"? Same issue here. Stop worrying about being pregnant (impossible, I know) for a few days and see if your period shows up.

And just a FYI: some women who are pregnant have normal periods the ENTIRE time they are pregnant. Every women, every body is different. Getting a period doesn't neccessarily mean you AREN'T pregnant, so make sure you use protection (you can buy spermicidal foam and condoms over the counter; many health clinics will hand out free condoms).

What does it mean when you have had 2 months of no pms symptoms your period comes on time but its shorter than usual?

It means you are a very lucky and normal woman. I thought I didn't have PMS either but PMS is so many different things. You might have it without knowing it.

Is there a way to permanently stop your period?

The only way to permanently stop your period is to have a hysterectomy, which involves removal of the uterus. However, a doctor will not do this unless they have cause (like cancer of the uterus or rupture during pregnancy, labor or c-section). The chances of getting a hysterectomy are very low. There are birth control options with will stop or dramatically decrease your period. Depo provera is one option. It is a shot given 4 times a year and, for many women, it stops your period. There are also pills which, if taken correctly, can allow you only 4 periods a year. These all can be discussed with your dr. I must add though that, if you plan on having kids in the future, I highly advise that you do not stop your period. Your monthly cycle keeps you healthy. I also must add, despite what the previous answer written here was - getting your tubes tied does not stop your period and it does not stop menopause. I believe removal of your ovaries would actually put you into early menopause, stopping your periods but that comes with risks. No matter what you decide, know that stopping your period will increase your chances of osteoporosis. So, if you are still growing, just tough it out for a while.

What is the period of teenage?

Teenage is just the period of changes occurring in someone's body also called as puberty. It is basically the period of reproductive maturity of the human body. It consists of physical as well as mental changes in a person's life. Due to lack of knowledge about changes occurring teenagers often tend to move in the wrong direction because they in the start only see unknown changes in them. Its only after 18 or 19 20 years of age they understand the changes occurred and have the perfect maturity about good and bad due to experience and exposure and also knowledge. It is very important to know about what is happening to you in order to not feel in-secured. For this consult your parents and trusted sources only.

Your period was 1month late home and doc tests were negative then got a light bleed lasting 4 days are you pregnant or was it a late period?

htere is a possibility, but it could be just that your period is coming later than usual this month. usually females cycles don't become consistent until at least late teens to twnetys depending on how long you have had it for, i wouldn't worry about only four days. but if you don't get it for a while longer, then you should see a doctor or someone at a pregnancy care centre to get an accurate result. good luck.

Mine once came a week and a half late. These things are very unpredictable. Don't worry, as long as the test says negative, you're probably okay.

Is it normal to have diarrhoea when your on your period?

It's not exactly normal to suffer diarrhea during menstruation, but it can be common. The hormone-like chemicals responsible for causing uterine contractions to push out menstrual flow can also impact the bowels so cause them to misbehave in this way.

Can boys put tampons in their anus?

Some boys do use tampons - menstruation is a function of the female body, but some people with female anatomy identify as boys - in that situation it's no different from a girl using a tampon. If a boy is biologically male then the only way he'd be able to use a tampon is if inserted anally, which would be uncomfortable and highly unhygienic - he'd risk anal infections and risk TSS.

How can females make their period come?

You can't make your first period come any faster.

You only menstruate when you are physically mature enough to ovulate, and you only ovulate when your body is reaching an age when it is physically mature enough to handle a pregnancy - you cannot make yourself mature any faster, it's just not possible.

There are all sorts of utterly nonsensical myths about what can speed-up this process, for example drinking green tea - this has absolutely no effect on puberty what-so-ever. A healthy well balanced diet can help because the healthier you are the more likely your body is going to think that it's okay to risk pregnancy by ovulating - but that doesn't mean that eating meat or eating wholegrains will make your periods start sooner.

If you are experiencing signs of puberty such as discharge, breast growth, and bodily hair, then your first periods aren't far off - your first period typically starts within 4 years of starting puberty. You may notice changes to discharge (stretchy clear discharge 2-3 weeks before your period, then getting thicket leading up to menstruation), brown or pink discharge, menstrual cramps, or acne leading up to your first period too.

Just make sure you know what to expect and what to do when it does arrive - it's a good idea to look at web sites such as Scarleteen and Menstrupedia for more information (avoid sites like beinggirl) to get more information, talk to your mom or guardian, carry a period kit with you so you have pads ready when it starts, also think about how you might want to celebrate becoming a woman too.

Can you organism before you have your first period?

Yes, in fact if the girl doesn't ovulate then she doesn't menstruate! After ovulation if the egg isn't fertilized the body sheds the uterine lining ready for the next cycle, this is menstruation.

You stopped taking the pill after four days should you have had a period?

Everybody reacts to this type of situation differently. Do not be alarmed because it may take you several months to get back to a regular period after taking any kind of birth control.

What does it mean when your period comes early and gets heavier?

One reason can be fluctuations in hormone levels. This is often the case for women approaching menopause. Also, if your blood is not clotting easily the bleeding will be heavy...some medications will do this, and even garlic and Vitamin E supplements can.

Is it normal for periods to come 9 days late if your not pregnant?

If it is just a one off, it is probably no big deal, unexplained and nothing to worry about. If it happens again the next month, go and speak to your doctor
