you need to replace combination switch inside of the steering column. it takes about 2 hrs.

To adjust the tilt on the driver's seat, fold the seat forward to access the adjustments. Look for the seat's track...there is one on each side. at the rear of the tracks you'll see a big plastic black knob. You pull out (about 1/4") the knob and rotate it either left or right, depending on it's current position, to lower or raise the seat's tilt. You need to make an equal adjustment on the opposite track. I believe this adjustment has three different levels.

This track adjustment might be a little tight...lightly spray some WD40 around the area to help move the track...Also, sometimes you might need a large flat blade screwdriver to help manipulate the adjuster. You'll see the flat blade slot behind the adjuster.

There are too many variables here to give a direct answer, but i would start by making sure the battery is not bad. After that you would use a volt meter to see if the Alternator is supplying 14V or more. If it is not then you need to find out why which is where things get involved.

you're going to need a Philips screwdriver and a flat blade screwdriver.

Pull the visor away from the retaining clips, and remove them.

Carefully remove the overhead interior lights...these once clear lenses are probably discolored by now because of the age of the car. I recommend you replace them...they're only a few dollars each and you'll like the extra light.

To the left and right of the interior light, you can see a hole (2), there are screws up there... you need to unscrew them. Once you have both screws out, carefully manipulate the trim back and up...it can be a little tricky, but it will eventually slide out. Take note, there are two of these trims units, one on each side. They slide in back of the rear view mirror....and they are fragile, so don't bend these too much. 450's are old cars and the vinyl and foam materials used in these units will be brittle with age.

Once you remove the trim, you can access the screws on the base of the visors...remove the visors. That's it.

You're most likely going to have to go to the dealership to have your car plugged into their computer. There are relays in the electrical box inside the hood on the left side, next to the brake booster...its that square black box . You'll see fuses and relays there...which goes where is anyone's guess. There might be a schematic on underneath the lid...if you're lucky.

Also, the problem could be a fuse, the wiper motor, or the wiper switch itself. There's also the window sensor that can affect the system as well.

It could be a couple of things that would make your car do that.... firstly, did you have this problem prior to installing all those ignition items? If you didn't have that problem, I would think it would be the coil. Did you also replace the spark plugs? It's also important to use factory MB parts for these specific applications. A lot of after market parts really don't measure up to factory specs. Yes, they're much cheaper, but a lot of times they won't work properly.

My best guess would have to be the fuel system. It could be:

Frequency Valve

Fuel Pressure Regulator

Oxygen Sensor

Thermo Time Switch

Warm Up Regulator

Those listed items are what it could be with the amount of information you provided.

Do you mean a 500 SL, or an SL 500? I have a '97 SL 500 (40th anniversary edition) and it's simple. 1) Lower windows. Park on flat surface. Put engine in "park" and turn engine off. 2) With a helper, gently set hardtop onto its position so straight brackets on rear are aligned with receiving pockets, and front of hardtop is squared over its receivers. 3) Turn key to AC position. 4) Push red tab button on center console (forward right button) forward until hardtop is fully pulled into receivers. Done.

you can call it tuning, the company called AMG, is owned by mercedes, and does the cars faster and stronger. lets take this for an example an 2005 SL haves a V8 with 306 hp wheres the 2005 SL AMG haves a V12 with 604 hp.

Are you talking about removing the hard top or removing the soft top from the car?

If the hard top that is simply a case of using the red button to the left of the gear lever to release it (the same button that raises and lowers the soft top) and then with the help of someone else lifting it clear.

A 1993 MB SL has 2 tops.

1: The canvas top stays in the boot.

2: The hard top can be removed from the car. There is a big button on the center console, to the rear of the shifter. Accessing this button will unlock the hard top, allowing you to hoist the top off of the car. You will need either an optional hoisting device, with a block and tackle to lift the top off the car, or two, reasonably strong men to lift the top straight up, then walk it to the rear of the car. Its not that heavy of a top, its bulky. Make sure the antenna mast is all the way down, otherwise you'll snag or break the mast. You might also want to put a towel or mat down on the trunk lid to prevent any damage which can occur when you move this bulky top

After you remove the hard top, use the same big button on the center console to activate the top, either up or down. This is a fully automated set up, and should take less than 20 seconds from start to finish to take up or down.

You might want to take some WD40 to the top's hinges just to make things run smoother. The mechanics and soft top are very expensive items which need TLC and maintenance if you want them to last and work properly. Avoid using harsh detergents on the canvas top. Those chemicals in harsh soap will make the canvas brittle and subject to tears.

I have a 1975 450Sl and the ICU is located on the driver's side, in the front wheel well on the fender just below the coil. It's a cast aluminum looking box. Otherwise, running from your distributor is a covered wire that holds two internal wires (I think two)... trace that back as it will lead you to your ICU. Tim
