Depends on why its overheating. IF the Radiator fan is not kicking on, then there are several things you can check.

One is that the AC system is working properly. Unfortunately, Ford tied in the AC system to the cars cooling system (overheating). And without the AC System working properly you might have to wire a toggle switch directly to the fan, with a fuse link on one side, to be able to manually turn on the fan when the car reaches temperature.

IF the AC unit is working properly there are 2 sensors. One is on top of the thermostat housing, and actually is in the housing. The other is in the engine block right next to the thermostat housing. IF either of these is not working properly, then the fan unit will not come on.

If that is not the problem, you may have a blockage somewhere, and need a serious cleaning of the radiator and/or engine block.

First you need the proper equipment to do this job. There should be a plug in under the hood, on passenger side where you plug in your tester. Then you need the book on the codes. Sometimes it is less expensive to just go to a service station and have this done. It will save you time and money.

Dist. removal. First, take off the dist. cap. You can leave the ign. wires on, but it is a good thing to mark the firing order on the cap. Which plug the wires go to. You can also mark where the Dist. cap is pointing, helps for timing purpose after. Next, you mark where the rotor is pointing, you can turn the engine over till the rotor points to the engine, then mark the spot on the engine, and also mark the Dist. around the base. This way, when you go to put it back in, the engine will work and save you a lot of time. Your two marks will line up. Use a wrench and remove the lock nut, and lock tab. Also un-clip the ign. wire harness from the Dist. When you pull up on the Dist. the shaft will turn, this is ok. Now you have it in your hands. If this removal is to change the module, make sure you put the right grease and clean the surface very good. It is possible that you might have to modify a tool to reach the small screws for the module........Now to re-install. As you slide the Dist. back into place, you will have to line up the two marks that you made. To do this, put the rotor back on during installation, and you will have to turn the rotor (shaft will turn also ) backwards, when you arrive at the right spot, the Dist. shaft gear will line up to the oil pump, and the Dist. will now drop fully into place. If it does not line up EXACTLY, then start over. Just by lifting the Dist. slightly, you will be able to turn the shaft till it drops in the right place. IT HAS TO LINE UP TO YOUR 2 MARKS. Off just a little is just not good enough.....OK. Chances are that you will not have to check the timing after, once lined up, unless you had a problem before, then have the timing checked. Which mount? Front, you support the engine from the under side, (you should really have air tools for this job) and start to unbolt and replace. It is very easy, but if you are not equipped, it is not a nice job. The transmission mount, there a 2. When the car is up on jacks, just look at the mounts and start to unbolt and replace with the new ones. As I said, air tools will do the job. Good luck.

If this is a 4cyl, auto, the dip stick for the tranny is between the rad and engine on the drivers side. Use the special long funnel for this purpose, and be careful not to overfill. Just add a little at a time, and check. If this is a standard, then the oil check plug is underneath on the side. When you open the plug, oil should just come out slightly, the car should be level. If you need oil, then you need a special pump to add. It uses reg. auto trans fluid. Good luck.

Check the trunk, driver's side close to the hinge. You should see a label that says Fuel Pump Reset Switch right next to a finger hole in the lining along the top of the side. The fuel switch is in there.

Hopefully your tank is on empty or close to empty, with car on jacks, take off the filler hose, support the tank, undo the bolts holding the tank straps, lower the tank, and reach over and unlock the ring holding the pump and gauge. Screwdriver and hammer, unlock the ring, blow the debris away before you take out unit. Replace. Just unlock the ring, clean area, remove old pump and gauge, replace, make sure pick-up filter stays on. Replace o ring seal, put a little lube on the o ring, lock ring, and with a piece of sheet metal, cut to the hole and just pop rivet or small screws and some sealer, and that's it. Don't have to disturb the clamps and lines this way.

Start off by opening the glove box their should be a legend saying what fuses do what find the number that is for the fuel gage, look under the steering wheel and you will see a fuse box pull out the bad fuse and replace it with another fuse make sure to use right ampage.

check the control module it is located on side of distributor. I had the same problem, I changed coil, crank sensor and still wouldn't start. I went to junk yard got control module and waalaa it started . These are kind of expensive at auto parts stores . Im not sure what the correct name is for it but it is for sure located on side of distributor

I believe the pump is in the fuel tank on your car and just pull the tank and replace the pump. The less gas you have in it the easier it is to handle. On some cars you have to drop the exhaust system some.

Assuming there isn't transmission damage, you probably have a kickdown cable. It's a cable that gets pulled on when you press the gas. It takes into account how hard your gas pedal is down, and delays shifting the closer you are to WOT. (wide open throttle) Perhaps it is a little too tight.
