Navy SEALs

Navy SEALS is a part of Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) and the maritime component of the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Its acronym ‘SEAL’ is derived from the capability to operate at sea, in the air and on the land, but its ability to work underwater makes them unique.

Who is better the US Marines or the Navy?

It depends on what your interests are. Honestly, more Marines die during wars than sailors. I looked up information and over 300 Marines died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Only 5 Sailors died in the same countries and they were killed by accident. Only five died because the war on terrorism is more ground fighting than Naval battles. Not to scare you out of the Marine Corps, but it all depends on what your interests are. Marine and Navy jobs are different, but some jobs are the same. Marines have longer deployments in more hazardous areas, Navy deployments are more frequent. Check out the websites to decide which one is best for you. All military branches have great benefits and allow you travel. I am going to be a Navy Officer, but before I decided Navy, I deeply consitered all the branches. My order of favorite branches are 1.Navy-2.Marines-3.Air Force-4.Army-5.Coast Guard. Good luck in the military!!

Is there a dress code for a navy seal?

The Navy SEALs dress code is the same as the rest of the Navy, called uniform regulations, except that when they are deployed they wear Navy working uniform Mark ones and in certain places are allowed to grow beards because of the environment they work in requires it.

Who is the BEST army military navy navy seals air forces?

I would say they're pretty much the same because all of them rely on each other, but the navy seals are the most challenging branch of the military physically, emotionally, and mentally. (this is my opinion, it is not fact) - jhc

Can a beard be worn with retired navy uniform?

It depends on the event, and of course assuming you can still fit into it. It's been a few years since I've been even close to fitting into my Crackerjacks.

For Veterans events, it's not an issue; it's only if you're in uniform officially as a sailor on active duty or a Reservist that binds you to uniform regs. For official ceremonies involving you, it's usually case-by-case, but they're pretty forgiving.

Why does the US Marines seal read Department of the Navy?

Because the Marine Corps, along with the US Navy, are the two uniformed services which comprise the Department of the Navy. This department is a component of the Department of Defense.

Can you join the navy if you have a kid?

Yes and no - If you're a single parent, you're automatically disqualified from joining, unless you make arrangements for someone else to become their legal guardian. If you've got kids and you're divorced, it's okay if you have joint custody; if you have full custody, the single parent rule applies.

The bottom line is that the Navy (or the military in general) is a fluid organization, and there are no set rules for when you may or may not deploy. I've been in a situation where we had to emergency sortie (emergency underway as fast as possible) due to a hurricane heading up the coast; I had no choice but to leave my wife (pregnant in the hospital at the time), and my home (with pets) alone because I had no choice but to get underway. The Navy doesn't want to put anyone who is the sole legal guardian/parent in a position where they'd have to leave their kids alone if there wasn't anyone to take care of them.

For those that think missing a ship movement or deployment because they couldn't find care for their kids will get them sympathy, think again; missing movement or deployment is a serious offense that can get you court martialed.

Can someone join the Navy that is currently seeing physciatrist for general growing up issues?

Probably yes. It's decided on a case-by-case basis meaning for one person it may be a no, but another person may be allowed in.

See a recruiter. You'll see a doctor at MEPS, they just want to be sure you aren't crazy and you won't do anything stupid.

Who is better the Navy or Marines?

The navy came first and is also one of the oldest Factions of our United States Armed Forces, founded back in the 1700's surrounding our independence declaration. The Marines were founded, at first, to the the ground forces of the navy. The Marines served for a long time as Naval Infantry, but eventually grew to a size where separation was necessary. The current commandant of the USMC has been trying recently to get to where the Navy-Marine relationship used to be. This would mean a Marine detachment on every Naval ship.
The Navy was created first.

Was The Pacific Campaign largely conducted by the Navy and the Marines?

Who is better Navy Seal or Marine?

In general, the SEALS would be considered "better," as they are a special forces branch of the Navy. A generic "marine" soldier, while well trained, would not be on par with the most well trained of the Navy.

The Marine Corps equivalent of the Navy SEALs would probably be the Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) but even they don't do the kinds of dangerous things that SEALs do.

What style of fighting do navy seals learn?

Machine gun, pistol, knife. In hand to hand, biting and eye gouging are the norm, not the exception. The automatic rifle works best. Oh yeah, C4 is a mass distribution style.

Do all corpsman train with marines?

No. Corpsman have different functions in the Navy. The designation that they receive to be "field" Corpsman attached to the USMC is 8404/FMF (Fleet Marine Force).

To acquire this, they attend Camp Johnson, near Camp Lejeune, NC., to receive that training and designation.

As well, a Corpsman at that point has the option of staying Navy regs or going to Marine regs (Haircuts/Uniforms of Navy or Marines)--Exception the "blood stripe" uniform.

Do navy seals use the hk416?

No, at least not in any official capacity. The M4A1 SOPMOD is still standard fare for the Navy SEALS, and will likely be replaced by the FN SCAR-L. The interest initially generated by the HK416 by the US military seems to have died down quite a bit, and it's not likely to see any widespread usage in the US military in the face of new weapons such as the SCAR and Remington ACR becoming available, and even as American companies are coming up with gas piston upper designs which are compatible with the M16/M4 lower receivers (although the Taiwanese were the first to make them, essentially doing in 1974 what H&K received so much undue praise for doing with the HK416).

Which is harder SEALs or PJ's?

SEALs and PJs are both elite operators with respective duties. While they have different entry schools, both attend many of the same schools including HALO, Combat Diver, Airborne, and Combat Survival schools. Both PJs and SEALs also conduct joint operations and missions together. SEAL washout rate is approximately 80%-90% while PJs generally stays around 90%. This is mathematically to close to assimilate.
