Generally, one would consider a single doctor who conducts business with other doctors to be in a practice.

If you are referring to Breast Nursing a baby, then it is a special category called a "Wet Nurse". Normal Medical Nurses do NOT perform this function.

The first thing you should do if you feel you have stitches that are infected, is to see your doctor. Your doctor can determine if the infection is internal or if it is an infection on the surface only. Your doctor may need to do a culture or a culture/sensitivity, to determine what bacteria is present, the quantity of bacteria and which antibiotics the bacteria is sensitive to.

If the infection is internal, it may need to be drained; if it isn't too deep, your doctor can probably do this in the office. A small drain can be inserted and left in place until your doctor feels the wound is sufficiently free of bacteria. The tube will then be removed, usually a pain free procedure and the wound can then begin healing

If the infection is only on top of your wound/stitches, warm moist compresses, using a clean cloth or gauze applied to the area several times a day will help clean out the wound and will help reduce the pain by allowing the wound to drain. If the wound is in an area that can be exposed to the air and sunlight, doing so for a short time each day will help the area to dry out and also promote healing.

If the wound starts to bleed hold gauze or Cotton over it. Apply gentle pressure for about 10 minute's if it continues, contact the doctors office. Wounds usually heal between 3 weeks to 3 months.

Basically, they are the same as working in any other facility. However, you would be dealing with a specific population. Some of the older adults may be suffering from dementia, hearing and visual impairment, feelings of isolation, feelings of loss of family, personal independence etc., which may lead to depression, as well as other issues. Thus, you will have to adjust your thinking and attitudes toward this special population. The main principle behind home care nursing is keeping the client in their home and out of the hospital or nursing home. Home care nurses help their clients with activities of daily living and keep their clients company. These duties are usually carried out by a certified nursing assistant.

• In central PA, LPN's make about $20/hour on average. • I am not sure of the answer. In NY state and rn just starting makes $20.00 plus dollars an hour. The LPN makes less. It also depends on the place where we work. Doctors offices pay less but have the benefits of Holidays off and weekends off.
• If an LPN receives experience in I.V. Therapy and works for an agency who places them in nursing homes and hospitals that are short of staff, they can make 25-40 an hour. you can work your own hours..Down side is that you never know your patients completely...and there usually are no benefits and if you get benefits.....they are so expensive that you might as well be a staff nurse for less money but with great benefits. If you are someone who does not need benefits and would like to make your own schedule and make alot of money...than be an LPN who works for an agency.

Advanced life support transports carry equipment aboard to immediately assess cardiac condition, and can link to a physician while en route through the miracle of modern communications. No desire is extant to cause panic, but chest pain can be an indication of a very serious and life-threatening condition. Immediate assessment is a must. Please.

if one suspects nursing home abuse they should report it to their long term care ombudsman. They will thoroughly investigate any claims made and follow safe-guarding procedures to ensure the safety of residents. If one believes there is an immediate threat of abuse that could result in physical harm or death of a person one should call 999 immediately.
