Will your period come on if you keep the NuvaRing in?

Not necessarily. You can start your first ring with or without your period. If you start without your period, you should use a backup method, like condoms or abstinence from vaginal sex, for the first seven days.

After that first month, you should put in the NuvaRing right on schedule, whether you're bleeding or not. For a large proportion of Nuva Ring users, that means inserting the next month's ring while you're still bleeding.

It's not unusual to have breakthrough bleeding during the first few months of use.

Can your get pregnant while on birth control and without penetration?

If you are taking your birth control properly (same time ever day/night, not missing pills, not using antibiotics, etc) and use the condom properly it is HIGHLY unlikely that you will but there is a small smidgen of possiblity that you could get pregnant.

What if you put in your NuvaRing a few hours late - after the seven-day ring-free period?

If you miss the first three days of your NuvaRing cycle, you should use a backup method until you've worn the ring for seven days. If you had sex during that time, consider using emergency contraception.

What can happen if you leave NuvaRing in for a week?

Yes. The Nuva Ring has enough hormones to last up to 35 days, or 5 weeks. Leaving it in for 4 weeks is perfectly healthy and equally as effective for preventing pregnancy. Leaving it in for 4 weeks and skipping your period is fine, but it should not be left in for more than 4 weeks at a time.

Do you have to use a back up method on your second NuvaRing?

If you've been without a ring for less than seven days, and used the ring correctly in the prior month, there is no need for a backup method when you start the next month. If you were late putting in the new ring or made some other error, you'll need to use a backup method, like condoms or abstinence from vaginal sex, for the first seven days of the new ring.

Is the ring a barrier method of birth control?

It is not a barrier method. It simply releases hormones that prevent your body from producing matured eggs. If the eggs aren't mature, they can't be fertilized.

Can NuvaRing cause discharge?

YES! most definatly. discharge is one reason some women go back to the pill. i have been on nuvaring for 3 months but it hasn't been to bad for me but discharge is completely normal.

Will it hurt you not to put your nuva ring back in?

Not unless you want to get pregnant! It must be inside and releasing hormones or you are not protected against pregnancy.

You have been on nuva ring for two years and your period is always on time you got your period three days early Should you be worried?

If you've used the ring correctly, haven't started any new medications or herbs that may interfere with the ring, and aren't at risk for infection, there's no concern about spotting with NuvaRing in. Talk with your health care provider for advice specific to your situation.

Can you be pregnant after having light bleeding for three days and then a week later you had spotting for two days and you've been feeling like you're going to throw up?

No, I have the same problem. I'm 13. For me, it just means that I'm either sick, or just having an abnormal period. Hey, it happens. But just in case, take a pregnancy test. Don't rely on these answers.

Have other women experienced bleeding for months after discontinuing NuvaRing?

Sure, but Nuvaring is unlikely to be the cause. If you're having continuous spotting or bleeding, get an exam to find the cause.

If you get pregnant on NuvaRing birth control and continue using it without knowing if you are pregnant will it hurt the baby?

No birth defects have been noted in women taking birth control unknowingly while pregnant. Because accidental pregnancies can occur on birth control, there is plenty of experience with this subject. See the "related links" section for a directory of hotlines you can call for information from specialists if you are concerned about a medication exposure during pregnancy.

Can the nuva ring get lost?

NO, it can only go as far as the end of your vagina.

What are the long-term effects of NuvaRing?

I've used the nuva ring for about a year and I've been off it for about a month now. Some noticable side effects I am experiencing is having pregnancy like symptoms. Sore nipples/breast, headaches, fatigue, heartburn, nausea, sensitivity to certain odors, abdominal pain, late/missed period, and bleeding gums. I should have got my period this week but haven't yet, but occording to others experience I've read online some women are having the same side effects after stopping. It's pretty frustrating, because my husband and i wanted to start trying to have a baby and I've taken 3 pregnancy test because of the symptoms I was having, but they were all negative. But from reading others experiences of these same symptoms i feel better knowing i am not the only one who experienced these unfortunate symptoms.
I have had no physical side effects of quitting the nuva ring but my emotions are crazy!! I have felt extremely sad and anxious and confused(a lot of turmoil in my mind) The side effects are supposed to subside after 3 months of quitting any birth control...I can't wait to feel normal again.
I was three days late to put my ring in--two days later it must of come out- because I am pregnant!
After you take out Nuva Ring, you'll probably have your typical withdrawal bleeding. After that, your next period will probably arrive in 4-6 weeks, so it might be a little late, and you might have a bit of spotting that month. As ovulation returns, you might notice some ovulatory cramping and ovulatory cervical discharge, and you might notice that your periods are heavier than they were when on Nuva Ring.

Does NuvaRing cause chest pains?

If you're experiencing discomfort due to NuvaRing, it's likely due to the ring rather than the hormones. Most women can use NuvaRing without noticing its presence. But we're all built differently, and some women can feel the ring whenever it's in. Women with frequent constipation may notice that problem more than others.

Before you give up, make sure that you've inserted the ring as high in your vagina as possible. If you're still experiencing discomfort when it's in, and no discomfort during the ring-free week, talk with your health care provider about other options.

Can you use NuvaRing during your period?

Yes. NuvaRing is removed one week per month. This is the week you have your period. You remove the last one, and later put in the new one, based on the schedule on the calendar. Sometimes this means you'll be inserting a new one while you're still bleeding.

Is it possible for a virgin to use a Nuva Ring without breaking the Hymen?

Yes. Your hymen is probably already broken. This can happen from riding a bike, masturbating, riding a horse, etc. Normally doctors want your hymen to be broken in order to give you a pap and pelvic, which is what you will need before you start on the nuva ring.

Will you bleed if you don't put in NuvaRing?

Yes, you should put your ring in as scheduled regardless of bleeding. Most women reinsert the next ring while they're still bleeding. You can also insert it early -- no later than seven days after you removed the last ring.

How many years can you be on NuvaRing?

Their website doesn't say but I'm pretty sure that you have to be 16 or older.. and nuvering also has more side effects than other birth controls.. so you might want to talk to your doctor first to see what they think would work best for you.. hope this helps!

Does blood clots happen when you take out the nuva ring?

Blood clots in menstrual flow often goes along with heavier flow. Since Nuva Ring lightens vaginal bleeding, it's possible that you're noticing this change because you quit using the ring. If it continues, or if you're having other symptoms like bloating, urinary discomfort, pelvic pain, or pain with intercourse, see your health care provider.

What happens if you remove the nuva ring for one day and then put it back on will i get pregnated?

If you do not keep the NuvaRing in for the full three weeks, the hormone levels in your body will drop, increasing your chance of ovulation. If you ovulate, you can become pregnant. I do not recomend taking it out early unless you want to risk getting pregnant.

Could you be pregnant if you use Nuva Ring for birth control and your period was 2 days late and only lasted for 1 to 2 days?

It's unlikely. Normally you insert it on the same day of the week, without having to insert it at the exact same time. If you're concerned, use a back up birth control method for the first 7 days of that new cycle.

Is it normal to experience spotting then bleeding during last days of NuvaRing cycle?

Yes. Some women note that bleeding starts later in the ring-free interval than it did in the pill-free week if they were on the birth control pill. Other women note that bleeding starts a little before they remove the ring. If you're in the first three months of use, you may have more unscheduled and unexpected bleeding, and should then settle down into a pattern. If the bleeding is troublesome, occurs mostly during sex, or is accompanied by pain, discharge or fever, then contact your health care provider for advice.

Is it normal if you just started the nuva ring and you were spotting brown blood for the longest time and now you took it out for a week and you have your period for two days and it has stopped?

The first 2 to 3 months you are on any type of birth control it is normal to have breakthrough bleeding and spotting and to have shorter and more regular periods while you are on birth control hope this helps, Good Luck and God Bless!!!

After my period i stopped using the nuva ring its been 5 weeks and haven't had another period is this normal?

Regardless of how long you used it, when you take out the last ring, you'll probably have your usual withdrawal bleeding. Your next period is likely to arrive in 4-6 weeks, if your periods were regular before you used Nuva Ring. If you had unpredictable periods before, you're likely to return to your previous irregular habit when you stop hormonal birth control.
