The outline is basically the blueprints of a paper. Even though an outline is not always required, it's always smart to make one. Outlines don't even have to be fancy or anything- and usually only take 10- 20 minutes. They're your brainstorming sheet, your plan.

The importance of a Outline may not seem clear, especially if you're of the younger age but it is there. It will make you more confident within writing your paper, and may even point out things you wouldn't had been able to grasp off the top of your head.

Help writing an essay on World War 2?

When you write a paper, you have a point that you're trying to make, right? You've done research on this point, and the whole paper focuses on that point....that's the thesis. Its your argument that you make in your paper. In the introduction, you introduce your thesis, letting the reading know what you will be discussing/arguing.

For the body of the paper, you prove your point by bringing in examples and evidence that you found in your research. In the conclusion, you again state your thesis and make it obvious to the reader that you have succeeded in proving your thesis.

Now, your teacher doesn't want you to just write a paper on WWII. S/he wants you to choose a topic/theme that interests you about the war and write about that. A good thesis is something that is debatable.....since you are, after all, arguing a point. Examples might be the 'real' cause of the war, effects of the war, how minorities were treated during the war (both in the military and on the home front), how things might have happened differently, etc. Just choose something and go with it. Throughout college and grad school, that was the hardest thing for me: choosing a thesis. Once you decide what you'll be writing on it gets alot easier.

How do you prepare an outline paper?

A paragraph outline or plan is just a list of what you're going to write in your paragraph.

You don't have to make complete sentences for this, because you are just doing an outline to plan out what to write.

It looks basically like the following:

Topic/Main Idea:
  • First Support Sentence
    • Detail for first support sentence
    • Detail for first support sentence'
    • (however many details you have for the first sentence)
  • Second Support Sentence
    • Detail for second sentence
    • (etc, etc until you have all your facts written in outline form)
You may also write a concluding sentence at the end if you wish.

Once you have an idea of what to do, then just make each of your lines into a complete sentence, check for punctuation and grammar, and you've got your paragraph!

You are doing a report in your 7th grade class what is a good and easy country to do a report on?

The three best things to write about are those (a) that you already know much about, (b) that you would like to know more about, and (c) that interest you. You already know many things about your own country, and you probably know much about the countries near you. Is there a country you want to know more about? Is there a country that interests you? If all else fails, take an atlas, close your eyes, turn to a page at random, and put your finger down on the page. The country under or nearest your finger will be the one you'll write about. There's plenty of information about every country on the internet. No country is likely to be much easier or more difficult to write about than any other. Your teacher has probably given you a guide as to how long your report should be. If not, just ask. Your problem won't be finding information to include, it will be deciding what you have to leave out because of space limitations.
