Peter Pan
Peter Pan was written by Sir James M. Barrie in 1904 as a play. He later adapted it to book form. Peter Pan is about a boy who refuses to grow up. He lives in Neverland and battles Pirates, talks to a Fairy, and takes care of his lost boys.

In Europe, the copyrights of the ORIGINAL "Peter Pan" story, are not held by anyone particular, as of January 1st 2008 - as the day before that, marked the complete 70 years since the author J.M. Barrie, died. So, anyone is free to adapt the original story and even make money with it as far as I've understood. BUT - DISNEY's version of the story still is protected by copyright law.
