When did the pirates invade the earth?
Well that's a hard question. I mean on one hand you have the pirate who came in 350 A.D. from the planet Snerringer. But they didn't actually invade, they constructed Atlantis and submerged it beneath the sea so they could wait till the time was ready to strike. But, they got bored. So they left. The easiest "First Space Pirate Invaders" would definitely be the Venutians. They quickly conquered the weak middle aged defenses we had constructed, around 870 A.D. they quickly stole all of our natural Flafernaffer resource and plundered what was left of the Dragon population.

A spanish galleon is a ship, a galleon, made in spain. Blackbeard used one, The queen annes revenge. and they are made in 1586
Correction to previous answer
"Blackbeard used one, The queen annes revenge." Actually, Blackbeard used a french guinea sailing vessel that was originally contructed in Britain called the Concorde. It had 26 cannons equipped and he later increased this number to 40 cannons and renamed it to Queen Anne's Revenge. I'm having trouble finding the name of the type of ship that it is other than a "french guinea sailing vessel".

Did pirates only use the skull and crossbones on their flags?
A skull, or "death's head" as the pirates would call it, represents death. That's really all there is to it. It could be used to scare their enemies, as if to say "we will kill you." It could also symbolize the fact that pirates were not scared of death. They generally accepted that the pirate life is dangerous, as in the famous quote by Black Bart Roberts, "A short life and a merry one. This shall be my motto." Roberts crew sailed under two different flags; one that contained two skulls and one that contained a skeleton.
What is the meaning of skull and crossbones as a safety symbol?
The skull n Bones has many different meanings and origins. It was found in the old days, And I mean biblical times on churches to ward off demons also on crucifixes under the feet of Jesus to symbolize Adam at least that is the what it is thought. I have seen one of these crucifixes in a museum with my own eyes. Very cool sight I must say. And the pirate meaning behind it simply means "death is coming" as well as a way to identify the captain of that ship. And yes it is a warning of something bad usually meaning death, like on a poison bottle, but that's not where it truly came from. I have a Skull and bones tattoo. Now, for me it means all of these things. Life, death, and fear! My philosophy behind getting it was just that! No I'm not a pirate of any sort!! I am a man that fought with cancer, watched his mother die from it and lost his sister to a gunshot in the face as well as many other hardships. I have faced all of those things and came out alive and stronger every time. So my tattoo is a reminder that I should live life everyday because death is coming, and if you sit long enough in it's presence you can grow to understand and not fear it nearly as much! But that's my meaning anyway!
