What are the two major mountain belts found on earth?

The two major mountain belts on Earth are the Himalayas in Asia and the Andes in South America. These mountain ranges are formed by tectonic plate collisions, where the crust is pushed upwards, creating high peaks and rugged terrain. The Himalayas are known for containing the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, while the Andes are the longest continental mountain range.

How old is sunlight when it hits Earth?

it is estimated that it takes approximately 8 mins for light for the sun to reach the earths crust

How is The Earth organized?

The Earth is organized into different layers: the inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust. These layers vary in composition, temperature, and physical properties. The Earth's structure plays a critical role in shaping its geological processes and overall dynamics.

The earth turns on its axis and this is called a?

rotation is a day or one turn on an axis and a revolution is a year or one orbit around the sun

Are fossils young compared to the age of the Earth?

The oldest fossils found are considered to be from the late Archean period which ended 2500 million years ago. By contrast, the Earth is believed to be 4500 million years old. So, though both dates are amazingly old, the Earth is definitely older than the fossils.

Does the total weight of Planet Earth always weigh the same?

Yes, apart from small additions when meteorites fall to earth from space

Which planets besides earth has an atmosphere?

All the other planets in our solar system have atmospheres, but their composition varies. For example, Venus has a thick atmosphere of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid clouds, while Mars has a thin atmosphere primarily composed of carbon dioxide. Gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn have thick atmospheres mainly made up of hydrogen and helium.

One trip around the sun?

For the Earth it takes 365 days to complete one orbit around the sun. Through that time we experience four seasons due to the changing angle at which the sun's rays hit the earth.

Some astronomers have found evidence for the formation of planets around other stars make a list of three characteristics these planets might need to support life?

  1. Presence of liquid water on the surface.
  2. Stable orbit within the star's habitable zone.
  3. Protective magnetic field to shield from harmful radiation.

These characteristics are important for potentially supporting life on other planets.

How many earths can fit inside jupitter?

Approximately 1,321 Earths could fit inside Jupiter, given its massive size and volume.

How was Rhode Island different from most of the other colonies?

Rhode Island stood out from other colonies by its early commitment to religious freedom, which was enshrined in its Charter of 1663. Additionally, Rhode Island had a more decentralized government structure and a tradition of independence, including being the last of the original 13 colonies to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

What is a meteoride after it hits earth?

After a meteoroid hits Earth's surface, it is called a meteorite. Meteorites can be classified into different types based on their composition, such as stony, iron, and stony-iron meteorites. They provide valuable information about the history and composition of our solar system.

Can titan can be seen from earth?

Titan, Saturn's largest moon, can indeed be seen from Earth using a modest telescope. It is 50% larger than Earth's moon and is visible during certain times when Saturn is visible in the night sky. However, without a telescope, it cannot be seen with the naked eye due to its distance from Earth.

What planet besides Earth has the highest chance with life on it?

Mars is currently considered the planet with the highest chance of hosting life due to the presence of water in the form of ice and evidence of past liquid water. Additionally, Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, is also a candidate for potential life due to its subsurface ocean beneath the icy crust.

What layer of earth makes up the techtonic plates?

The lithosphere, which is the outermost layer of the Earth, is responsible for making up the tectonic plates. It includes the crust and upper part of the mantle and is broken up into various plates that are in constant motion due to the underlying mantle convection currents.

Should we move to another planet?

no way I love Earth!

Opinion:

I suppose the actual part of "moving" to another planet is not a viable solution.

We can most likely at one time in the future build a "starship" that can travel for hundreds of years and finally be able to settle on another planet and build a civilization there.

It would not actually be "moving", just making a settlement or a colony that over time might grow large and prosperous.

It will never be the same as packing and moving and unpacking again.

It would require generations to get there and require enormous amount of planning. The cost involved would be tremendous. Doable, yes, if the entire world gets behind it.

We need to find a solar system that may provide the elements that support life as we know it first. To go on a one way trip with only one candidate for settling down would be risky to say the least. Several candidates should be found in close proximity before human kind should go on such an endeavour.

But yes.

When the time is right, we should try to go to another planet and extend our civilisation.

We should however not occupy another planet that already maybe have got intelligent life simply because we can.

I think yes...but not in the near future..but that is ultimately what we end up doing...to protect the survival of the human race for billions of years to come.

Can you avoid the sun by constant traveling?

No, constant traveling will not entirely avoid sun exposure. While you may move across time zones and latitudes, you will still be exposed to sunlight during the day unless you remain indoors or shielded from direct sunlight at all times. It’s important to use sunscreen and protective clothing when spending time outdoors.

If the age of the Earth is 4.5 billion years and the half-life of 40K is 1.26 billion years what percent of the Earth's original amount of 40K remains today?

Approximately 25% of the Earth's original amount of 40K remains today, given that one half-life of 40K is 1.26 billion years. This means that half of the original amount decayed in 1.26 billion years, leaving behind the remaining 50%, which is now further decaying to reach 25% after 4.5 billion years.

Is the earth overheating?

The Earth is experiencing an increase in global temperatures, a phenomenon known as global warming. This is primarily due to human activities like burning fossil fuels and deforestation, which release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and trap heat. The long-term consequences of this warming trend include rising sea levels, more frequent extreme weather events, and disruptions to ecosystems.

What planet is 4.6 million years old?

The age of a planet is typically determined by the age of the solar system, which is estimated to be around 4.6 billion years old. All planets in our solar system formed around the same time, with Earth being about the same age as the solar system.

If you way 90 pounds on Jupiter how much would you way on earth?

If you weigh 90 pounds on Jupiter, you would weigh approximately 24.05 pounds on Earth. This is because Jupiter has a stronger gravitational pull than Earth, so objects weigh more on Jupiter compared to Earth.

What are the evidences of the movents of the continents?

The evidence that the continents are moving today is actually just a theory, but is accepted to be true. This theory is known as Continental Drift and is described as the continents belonging to tectonic plates, which are basically floating on the Earth's surface. Evidence to prove such is that the continents all fit together like a jigsaw puzzle and related or the same plant or animal species are located on separated continents, suggesting that they were all once connected to allow the animals to roam and the plants to spread. If they have moved in the past, they must still be moving today, and there are projected paths the continents are taking.

What layer of the earth makes up theses plates?

The Earth's lithosphere is comprised of the tectonic plates that float and move on the semi-fluid asthenosphere beneath them. These plates are made up of the crust and the upper part of the mantle.
