What makes you sick when eating potato salad?
Probably the creamy sauce or mayonnaise used to dress potato salad is the culprit if people feel unwell or suffer from digestive problems after eating the salad.
It is very important that any dish such as pasta salad, rice salad and potato salad which is served cold in a creamy sauce should be refrigerated until the moment it's served, and then served quickly and not left out in a warm environment. This is asking for food poisoning. Pregnant women are particularly at risk with this type of food, as with pates and soft cheeses.
As a rule of thumb, keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot, refrigerate both as soon as serving is finished and discard if not used within a day.

Why does restaurant served baked potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil?
I do not know why people wrap them in foil at home, one can bake a potato in their oven without wrapping it. I do wrap them when I cook them on the grill. In many places the potatos are boiled before wrapping them and placing them in the oven. A friend in the food business said that people expect them to be in foil. I guess that people see it wrapped so it must be clean. Some folks don't want the potato to dry out while it's cooking. A spud wrapped in foil will not suffer the water loss that an unjacketed one will. Depending on the cooking time, one may chose to put on the foil or not. Even when spuds are cooked quickly in the microwave, it is recommended that they be cooked in a covered dish or bowl. (They will not, of course, be covered with foil when we nuc 'em.) It's a moisture thing. Bon appétit!

Are potato cannons legal in the UK?
Pneumatic potato cannons under 3 ft pound are legal, but anything more powerful is considered a firearm, and should technically require a lisence, in reality though this is virtually impossible to enforce, as most are home made. So really as long as your sensible, only use it on private property (preferably in a rural area), and dont use it for any evil deeds, you wont get into any trouble.
Combustion ones that use a flammable aerosol (usually hairspray), are a bit more of a grey area. They probably are considered a firearm, but i found nothing that says you can or cant make them, so again, just be sensible.
