Absolute poverty would be describing someone who owns nothing. Relative poverty is someone who makes less then a certain amount of money per year, putting them well below the average income level.

Please understand that this question is so vague, and encompasses so many aspects of the fields of politics, economics, sociology, etc. that there is no definitive answer. That being said....

In the broadest sense, poverty -- the state of being relatively poor in means or goods, the functional opposite of material wealth -- has probably been an "issue" of one sort or another for as long as humans have walked the earth, and certainly within the entire reach of recorded human history.

Further discussion would require a narrowing of the scope of the question.

Because the majority of the population is usually poor and also communist countries are usuall quite corrupt so a lot of money goes to military leaders, dictators and gangsters. But the actual country may still have a fair bit of money

Poverty can be considered the enemy because it makes people suffer, cause pain, and can even kill people. LBJ "declared unconditional war on poverty" by providing aid for the poor, jobs for youth, a domestic Peace Crops, etc.

It not only can, it is the largest contributor. Depending upon which country you are a resident in. There are many countries where the lower paid jobs are below the accepted International poverty line. Become unemployed there and you face a life of scavenging on waste dumps and begging.

In so many families parents are not highly educated , so they have not a high service and they are unable to fulfill thier need and unable sent children to school . Thats why the poverty leads to child labour.

Basically because you need money in order to make money. People living in poverty usually only have enough money for their day to day subsistence (and often not even enough for that), which means that it is impossible for them to save any of their income and therefore they stay in poverty.

According to the Huffington Post, Mississippi is the state with the highest poverty rating. The median income for someone living in Mississippi is $36,919.

It depends on who you are and where you live. To live in poverty means that you can not or chose not to earn the means where by you can maintain your health and well being. And the health and well being of those for which you assume responsibility. the Idea of what is poverty for example is far different when seen from the point of view of a welfare recipient in the developed world or a person that just lost everything in Haiti.

Utopian society

I think there is direct relation between poverty and health. Poor people can't manage a healthy and nutritious diet everyday. They go for more quantity in least money. But it does affect their health. Problems like malnutrition is the example.

Because farmers as a rule only get paid when the crops are sold the depend upon credit at stores for seed and essentials. Sometimes the crop doesn't bring in enough money to pay the previous years debt so they tend to stay in debt. However if all goes well they can pay their bills and but money aside to buy the farm if that is an option or maybe buy land elsewhere and start over on their own. Sharecroppers and farmers both have hard lives that depend on the weather a great deal. So nothing is a sure thing. Many take out loans to cover costs until the crops are in and they are able to pay it back.

Poverty must be ended through a collective effort. In 2000, world leaders came together at United Nations headquarters in New York to adopt the UN Millenium Development Goals. This consisted of 8 goals set to be achieved by 2015 that included things like ending poverty and hunger and combatting HIV/AIDS. Ending poverty has been set as a priority and goal for the international community, and now it is just up to every nation to keep their commitment.

In the United States this means all Senators and House members backing important poverty-reduction legislation, like the Water for the World Act. If passed, these bills will end up funding important projects on the ground of developing countries that will emphasize sustainable development for communities. Check out the Millenium Villages Project (http://millenniumvillages.org/). This Project has been very successful with development in villages in Africa.

So the next step is to make sure these bills are getting passed. That is where every American has to be involved. Congressional officials are elected into office by their constituents and that is who they are there to serve. If enough constituents express the need for congressional officials to support poverty-reduction legislation, chances are, they will. Urge your congressional officials to cosponsor important poverty-reduction legislation.

Bills will get passed, people will get money to do work on the ground to create development and sustainability in communities. The international community is on board to end global poverty, now it is up to us to urge our congressional leaders to make this possible.

when you are poor you can might not be able to afford a house or even food so you will be living in the slums also known as poverty, this affects them badly because they have poor living conditions which will lead to them becoming ill -hope it helps :-D

One can help prevent poverty in the United States by making more donations to charities which help the underprivileged. Examples of the charities are the Red Cross, the Food Bank, etc.

It's a strange question because to understand it you would have to go back to the beginning of time and relaize that since the beginning of countries and states there have always been rich and poor. And today we still see it but not as much. A simple answer could be the way people live. Some people could be alcoholics and in a rough spot in their life. Or the country can't look after them because they're one a millions. That's really the problem with poverty and how it starts. A country is formed/ created on how big they want it not by how many people there are. A country like Canada is one that's too huge and there's thousand of people in poverty.
