Can a microperforate hymen lead to complications with pregnancy or childbirth?

I have heard that it is best to have it removed. My doctor told me it might cause problems with natural birth and also, chances of getting pregnant is lower, or might take longer, because of the blockage... I just went through the removal process which included a minor surgery. It is under general anesthesia, but that's good because you won't remember anything at all. It is a day surgery, and you will feel a bit pain and discomfort after the surgery. My doctor gave me strong pain killers, but I really didn't need them, so I didn't take any and just stook with Motrin or Tylenol. It will take about 6 weeks to heal, but I think it's completely worth the worries...

Can pregnant women eat kangaroo meat?

Kangaroo meat poses no risks to pregnant women as long as it is properly cooked.

What cant you eat during pregnancy?

Raw Meat: Uncooked seafood, and rare or undercooked beef or poultry should be avoided because of the risk of contamination with coliform bacteria, toxoplasmosis, and salmonella.

Deli Meat: Deli meats have been known to be contaminated with Listeria, which can cause miscarriage, or even stillbirth. Listeria has the ability to cross the placenta and may infect the baby leading to infection or blood poisoning. If you are pregnant and you are considering eating deli meats, make certain that you reheat the meat until it is steaming.

Fish with Mercury: Fish that contain high levels of mercury should be avoided. Mercury consumed during pregnancy has been linked to developmental delays and brain damage. These types of fish include: shark, tuna, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish. Canned, chunked, light tuna generally has less amounts of mercury than other tuna, but still should only be eaten in moderation. Most fish in sushi should also be avoided due to high levels of mercury.

Smoked Seafood: Refrigerated, smoked seafood often labed as lox, nova style, kippered, or jerky should be avoided because they could be contaminated with Listeria. This type of fish is often found in the deli section or refridgerated section. Canned or shelf-safe smoked seafood is ok to eat.

Fish exposed to Industrial Pollutants: Avoid fish from contaminated lakes and rivers that may be exposed to high levels of polychlorinated biphyenyls. This is primarily for those who fish in local lakes and streams. These fish include: blue fish, striped bass, salmon, pike, trout, and walleye. Contact the local health department or Environmental Protection Agency to determine which fish are safe to eat in your area. Remember, this is regarding fish caught in local waters, not fish from your local grocery store.

Raw Shellfish: The majority of seafood borne illness is caused by undercooked shellfish, which include oysters, shrimp, crabs, lobsters, clams, and mussels. Cooking helps prevent some types of infection, but it does not prevent the algae-related infections that are associated with red tides. Raw shellfish pose concern for everybody and they should be avoided altogether during pregnancy.

Raw Eggs: Raw eggs or any foods that contain raw eggs should be avoided because of the potential exposure to salmonella. Some homemade Caesar dressings, mayonnaise, homemade ice cream or custards, and Hollandaise sauces may be made with raw eggs.

If the recipe is cooked at some point, this will reduce the exposure to salmonella. Commercially manufactured ice cream, dressings and eggnog are made with pasteurized eggs and do not increase the risk of salmonella. Restauants also should be using pasteurized eggs in any recipe that is made with raw eggs, such as Hollandaise sauce or dressings.

Soft Cheeses: Imported soft cheeses may contain bacteria called Listeria, which can cause miscarriage or stillbirth. You would need to avoid soft cheeses such as : brie, camembert, Roquefort, feta, gorgonzola and Mexican style cheeses that include queso blanco and queso fresco, unless they clearly state that they are made from pastuerized milk. All soft non-imported cheeses made with pasteurized milk are safe to eat.

Unpasteurized Milk: Unpasteurized milk may contain bacteria called Listeria. Make sure that any milk that you drink is pasteurized.

Paté: Refrigereated paté or meat spreads should be avoided because it may contain the bacteria Listeria. Canned paté, or shelf-safe meat spreads can be eaten.

Caffeine: Although most studies show that caffeine intake in moderation is okay, there are others that show that caffeine intake may be related to miscarriages. Avoid caffeine during the first trimester to reduce the likelihood of a miscarriage. As a general rule, caffeine should be limited to fewer than 300 mg per day during pregnancy. Caffeine is a diuretic, which means it helps eliminate fluids from the body. This can result in water and calcium loss. It is important that you are drinking plenty of water, juice, and milk rather than caffeinated beverages. Some research shows that large amounts of caffeine are associated with miscarriage, premature birth, low birth weight, and withdrawal symptoms in infants. The safest thing is not to consume caffeine.

Alcohol: There is NO amount of alcohol that is known to be safe during pregnancy, and therefore alcohol should be avoided during pregnancy. Prenatal exposure to alcohol can interfere with the healthy development of the baby. Depending on the amount, timing, and pattern of use, alcohol consumption during pregnancy can lead to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or other developmental disorders. If you consumed alcohol before you knew you were pregnant, stop drinking now. Alcohol should continue to be avoided during breastfeeding. Exposure to alcohol as an infant poses harmful risks, and alcohol does reach the baby during breastfeeding.

Unwashed Vegetables: Yes, vegetables are safe to eat, so you still need to eat them. However, it is essential to make sure they are washed to avoid potential exposure to toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasmosis may contaminate the soil where the vegetables were grown.

I missed a period i am 5 days late and i have took 4 tests and they were all negative i don't feel pregnant and my husband thinks i am.i have regular periods but i just want to no what is wrong?

my periods are quite irregular, so when I missed my period I thought it was normal. since my husband and I have been trying to have a baby, I took 2 pregnancy tests just to make sure.....they were all negative. At the time I took the pregnancy test, I was 5-6 days late. My advice to you is (through my own expirience), wait another week and do another pregnancy test coz that's what I did and my test was POSITIVE!!! I am now into my 7th week...

Best of luck :-)

Can a horse take a pregnancy test?

No they can't, they don't have thumbs so they can't hold the stick.

You can perform a pregnancy test on a horse (not to say while riding one...well, maybe you can, but that would require some degree of coordination) by testing the urine at 38 days with a WeeFoal pregnancy kit. See Link

Is the acai berry safe during pregnancy in any form?

Listen, A babies life is very important. The first thing that you need to do is take your Acai product that your thinking about taking and bring it right to your physician. I would not trust any one but a medical professional for answering a question like this. Yeah Acai is good for you and mothers in the Amazon rain forest actually consume large amounts of Acai after child birth, typically around 40% of their diet. But it's not worth the risk to find out the information on the internet, I would contact your physician, he will have the answer.

And if he says you can take Acai, don't just take any Acai, take a quality product. Make sure its freeze dried Acai, that it's pure, and make sure it doesn't have any fillers if it's a pill capsule.(most of them do)

There is one brand I have found that I personally take is great, it's called "Perfect Acai", I suggest it to anyone who wants to take Acai.

Are you able to suck your stomach in whilst in the early stages of pregnancy?

I'm not sure. I believe I am pregnant, and I can't do that either. I've gained a little waight and it's making me feel bad about myself, because I'm afraid that im not pregnant and I'm getting fat. But a normal person does not gain weight just in ther stomach area in this short amount of time. I hope I have helped. Sorry if it's not enough. good luck In the early stages of pregnancy you should not look any different. However a lot of women get bloating, wind and constipation which makes it very difficult to suck your stomach in. Your stomach is in the upper part of your abdomen and is "sucked in" by elevating your diaphragm. Your uterus is in your lower abdomen/pelvis, just behind your pubic bone, so sucking in your stomach cannot hide a pregnancy. Early in the pregnancy the uterus has not enlarged enough to be visible to the public, as it enlarges the pregnancy becomes obvious.
