Do Christians believe in the Prophet Muhammad?

Answer 1

As a Christian I believe in the man Muhammad, but not that he was a Divine Prophet!

Answer 2

Many Christians and Jews believe in Muhammad as a prophet and in Qur'an as God holy book but still remaining on their own faiths.

Quran says (meaning English translation):

"And indeed, among the People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) are those who believe in Allah (God and same God in Christianity and Judaism) and what was revealed to you (Quran revealed to prophet Muhammad) and what was revealed to them (The Torah and the Bible), [being] humbly submissive to Allah. They do not exchange the verses of Allah for a small price. Those will have their reward with their Lord. Indeed, Allah is swift in account." (3:199)

I personally know many Christians in Egypt and in Austria who when talking about prophet Muhammad they say the messenger or the prophet and never say merely Muhammad. That means that they believe in him as God prophet but they remain on their Christian faith just as Muslims believe in Moses and Jesus as God prophets but remain on their Islamic faith.

Answer 3

There is no sect of Christianity (among all of the thousands) that ascribes any importance to Mohammed or the Revelation of the Qur'an. If Christians "believe" in Mohammed, it is that they believe in his existence or that they accept the attributes of nobility and humility ascribed to him by Muslims, Baha'i, Druze, and others. Those Christians who call "Mohammed" as "Prophet Mohammed" do so out of respect for the title, not because they accept the claim of prophecy. It is the same reason that people refer to any king as "His Highness" even though most people do not believe that kings are superior to the rest of humanity. When talking to Christians, some Jews will say "Jesus Christ" even though they reject his Messianic Claim out of respect to the title. It's the same thing.

Answer 4 (Hints on Answer 3)wonder that one can tell about all Christians. At the time of prophet Muhammad, there were many Christians who don't believe in the Trinity and believe that Jesus is a prophet and believed in Muhammad as a prophet but remained on their religion. The same holds for the Jews at that time. One can refer to Waraqa Ibn Nofal; the cousin of Khadija the prophet wife; as a proof of my sayings. Waraqa didn't believe in the Trinity and believed that Jesus is a prophet and not God or son of God.

That is why it is said in Quran (meaning English translation):

" And indeed, among the People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) are those who believe in Allah (God and same God in Judaism and Christianity) and what was revealed (Qur'an) to you (Muhammad) and what was revealed to them, [being] humbly submissive to Allah. They do not exchange the verses of Allah for a small price. Those will have their reward with their Lord. Indeed, Allah is swift in account."

(Qur'an, 3:199)

How the five pillars of Islam create brotherhood?

The five pillars of Islam help in unifying all Muslims all over the world.

The first pillar (testimony of the oneness of God and that Muhammad is his messenger and prophet) unifies the Muslims on the worship of one and only one God.

The second pillar (praying or Salat) unifies Muslims especially during the ritual praying in a gathering in Mosque (daily, on Fridays, on the feasts, in Ramadan during praying in a gathering for what is called Taraweah)

The third pillar (Alms giving or Zakat) unifies Muslims when they feel that the rich is feeling with the poor and gives him from his money or property.

The fourth pillar (fasting Ramadan) unifies Muslims when they all are fasting for the same period.

The fifth pillar (pilgrimage or hajj) is the strongest demonstration of Muslim and Islam unity when Muslims from all over the world come together in the annual world biggest gathering in response to God call for Hajj.

How was the Arabia region before Muhammad mission?

Before the prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) was born and the Quran revealed to him (at the age of 40) the Arabs were very backward minded. Each individual could have had upto one god each. Where the Ka'Ba lies now (the place where Muslims go to pilgrimage (i.e the big black cube) was filled with idols. These idols ranged from small rocks to large ones and even plants etc... when the prophet (PBUH) revealed what was revealed unto him he told the people of Mecca the truth and that God was only one and that he was the final messenger and that the Qu'ran was the final complete revelation from God.

At first the Meccans would not stand for it at all and his presence was not welcome at this community. Although Muhammad (PBUH: Peace be upon him) was a very honest and sound minded individual in terms of trade and business sense, he was actually illiterate meaning he could not read or write. So when this individual came to the people and revealed this beautiful and accurate revelation from his own mouth, (God imprinted the whole Qu'ran verse by verse in his mind) the people were shocked, dumbfounded and stunned as to how this illiterate man could reveal something which went against their values.

As a result the Prophet (PBUH) left Mecca for Madina; the people here welcomed him with open arms and listened to his wise words.

To cut a long story short, 100 years after the prophets death (PBUH) Islam had spread all the way from eastern Europe all the way to western Africa)

Nowadays Islam is the most perfect religion factually speaking (every religion besides Islam contradicts itself somewhere among its own verses. To this day Islam is the only religion which Science works along with rather than against. Not a single word can be disproved by modern science and as science has improved, the Qu'ran reveals further more miracles which seemed irrelevent at the time but as a result of scientific improvements, we can see that the Qu'ran was right all along and it was just a matter of time until science could verify it.

Islam is now the fastest growing religion in the world and is also the second largest religion.

Please read about Islam and the miracles of the Qu'ran to see for yourself how it is so much ahead of every other religion and how it is the perfect way of life to lead.

Thanks

Should we celebrate eid milad un nabi or not?

It's actually called Mulad-Al-Nabi s.a.w. and it's the celebration of Prophet Mohamed's p.b.u.h. birthday. In some countries there are festivals and gifts given out. Other places read Quran the whole night. Each Islamic country celebrates it differently, but in other countries like in Saudi Arabia they think it is not right to have any celebration at all on this matter because the previous followers of (Sahabah) they did not celebrate in the birthday nor the date of death for any one.

What title was given to the successors of Mohammed?

The successors to the Prophet Muhammad were called the Caliphs. Muhammad's father-in-law, Abu Bakr, was elected as the first Caliph. Then came Umar and Uthman. The fourth Caliph was Ali ibn Abi Talib, the cousin and son-in-law to Muhammad, whom the Shi'ites believe to have nominated Ali to be his immediate successor. Disagreement over the succession became a major cause of friction and led to the division of Islam along Sunni and Shia lines.

Who succeeded Muhammad?

Was muhammed a false prophet?

No.

The Beast and the False Prophet will be a team of two men who will be living at the time of Jesus' return. The Beast will be a political/military leader... the False Prophet, a powerful miracle-working "religious leader" who appears to the world "Christ-like" at the time of the Great Tribulation, which hasn't yet occurred:

"...I saw another beast [which is the False Prophet, who works in collusion with the Beast], coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb [he will appear to the world to be Christian], but he spoke like a Dragon." (Rev.13:11 NIV)

They will be captured during the "Great Supper of God" -- the battle "on the Day of God Almighty"... at a place called in the Hebrew tongue "Armageddon" [see Rev.16:13-16]:

Revelation, chapter 19 is a prophetic chronology of Jesus' return to earth with His angelic army, making war:

"...I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, 'Come gather together for the Great Supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and mighty men, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, small and great.'

"Then I saw the Beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together [at Armageddon] to make war against the Rider on the horse and His army.

"But the Beast was captured, and with him the False Prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf... The two of them were thrown into the Fiery Lake of burning sulfur." (Rev.19:17-20 NIV)

How is muhammad similar to moses?

This answer depends on if you ask a Muslim or a Christian.

Similarities between Jesus and Muhammad might include that they were both men, both lived in the Middle East, both are leaders of world-wide religious movements, both claimed to speak for God.

However:

  • Muslims believe that Muhammad is the greatest prophet of Allah and Jesus was a lesser prophet.
  • Christians believe that Jesus is God and that Muhammad was a false prophet.
