Psychics aren't real.

Or so many people think. I believe that psychics are partially real. There are those that are real and then there are those that just want your money. I think that I am beginning to see that I am psychic and from my experiences, you can not randomly conjure up a prophecy or something stupid like that. For me, whenever I had the feeling something was about to happen, it happened within all of half a minute. Sometimes though I have dreams and most are just dreams, but sometimes I get dreams that show the future. These dreams let me know ahead of time around 6 months earlier than the actual event. Of course by now though you have probably stopped reading this thinking "This guy is like the rest-CRAZY!!!!!" and even I know that I sound like it. But in all I do believe that there are some form of psychics. Those that think they are. Those who want your money. And those who possess the skill but think nothing of it.

I got a solicitation from Meredith Lane with Translation Press at about the same time. Somehow, I ended up on some psychic mailing list and not only got that one but letters from two other women of similar description. The others are Madame Avalon with Astral Arts and Athena with Celestial Gifts.

Two of them, including Ms Lane, cited a number of specific dates on which various things would happen. To date, nothing they described has occurred on any of them.

All of them boast that they are angel skryers (commune with angels), refer to God, claim to be psychics, mention magic and offer, give assurance that they are better than their competitors, and for a fee of $25 to make me wealthy, give me endless good luck, success in romance, healed relationships, etc. This does beg the question that if they are capable of doing this for me, then why haven't they already enriched themselves, and thus why are they asking me for money?

I decided to put each of them to the test, to give them a chance to prove that they are what they claim rather than dishonest swindlers. I gave each a task, and a deadline of January 6, 2011 by which to accomplish it. None of produced anything.

Curiously, one thing Ms Lane told me was that I my own psychic gifts would reawaken and that no one would ever again be able to lie to me. Maybe she was right about that, at least.

I had a reading from Kim early this year and nothing came true, in fact almost the opposite of what she said would happen occurred, I called her back because the consequences were devastating, and she said often her readings are 'subject to change' and I should learn to channel for myself everyday at the same time to get updates on such changes, I felt like I hadn't read the small print on the packet! Needless to say I never called again.

If you think you have psychic powers you have deep seated psychological problems, either self deluding (To be full of one's self, to look in the mirror and say damn i'm sexy, believing your own lies to be truth, and living in your own world) and self aggrandizing (The act or practice of enhancing or exaggerating one's own importance, power, or reputation. ). There are no psychic powers.

Absolutely not! In fact being psycic is a God given gift. It means you are closer to the creater himself. I myself am psycic and have been still going to church. It is a gift.

Firstly psychic abilities have not been proven (not to be mistaken for not real) so it is difficult to give a definate answer.

Some people believe that people are born with psychic abilities and that that it is impossible to become a psychic if you were not born with the ability.

Others believe that psychic ability is a skill just like shuffling a deck of cards or answering maths question, therefore can be learnt by most people and just like all skills it can be achieved through practice. However, some people believe that your genes limit the level of skill you are capable of achieving, for example, it is proven that genes do limit the IQ you may achieve, so this could apply to psychic abilities as well. Every person is born with psychic abilities. We all can sense that something is off or just know that certain things are going to happen. I've had gut feelings that I would soon be burglarized, that others were posting bad things about me online, that certain people I wanted to call were already busy with the phone, or that a particular object would be located in a garbage dumpster. All of these things were true.

Of course, there are 2-3 types of situations that pass for psychic abilities. One is the matter of cold readings. Everyone has "tells" that they give off that broadcast their personal business. Some are conscious like choosing to wear a ring or not, and others are unconscious like talking faster when one is lying. So then there are also things you can surmise about others by asking unrelated questions. If you ask someone what their favorite brand of dog food is, and they tell you, you can almost be certain that they have a dog. The assumption would fall flat if they then admitted to eating it themselves. Or they might give the credit to the psychic -- "How did you know that I ate dog food?" If a woman is driving a minivan, it might be a reasonable guess that she has kids, since why would a woman drive something so bulky when she is likely not owning it to impress others or for some heavy construction trade (which could be verified by looking for dirt and scratches)? As they ask you questions, you might unknowingly give them information about you that they will present back to you as a reading. That is profiling, not a psychic reading.

Another type of situation that passes for psychic is self-fulfilling prophesy. If the psychic predicts you will soon be scammed, and you pay them a nice chunk of money, then you and they just fulfilled their prophecy. Or if a woman tells the psychic that she is abused and asks what will happen to her in the future, the psychic might say that they see images of violence and suggest that the woman leave the abuser. Thus telling her to leave the abuser might actually lead to the event that is foretold, though it won't be the cause, since living with an abuser is always a ticking time bomb anyway. So when a situation will likely be caused or exacerbated by giving someone a psychic reading or other actions on part of the psychic (or the client in response), it is said to be a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Then there are generalities. That can produce the "Barnum Effect" where you are more likely to believe what other people say about your life or your personality. That is why astrological readings seem to work, since they say things that could be true about most people every day. And even if it doesn't match exactly, it often contains kernels of truth about you or some sound advice. If the advice says, "If you start saving today, you will likely have quite a nest egg a year from now." That would be true of anyone being told that on any day. Plus some of the general readings can be self-fulfilling (see previous paragraph) too. If you read that you are going to have a bad day, then you might look for evidence of that and conclude you are having a worse day than the previous, even if the previous one was not much different. You might even act differently in response to the reading and inadvertently complicate your day.

They find a goodbye letter to Lester. Lester ends up sleepwalking straight into the tower, and after waking up; he scolds the two girls for entering the tower. He then asks Gilda to go back to Michigan. Juliet claims that if he kicks Gilda out, she will go with her. All three of them proceed to go to sleep and discuss the matter the next day. In the morning, Lester finds Juliet packing her clothes to go to Michigan with Gilda. Lester begs her to stay, and as a last resort, he hands a letter addressed to Juliet from Melanie. They make up and say that Gilda won't go back until the original return date. The next day, Gilda and Juliet go to the beach with Lester's assistant, Summer, who they befriended over the summer. Before Gilda departs for Michigan, Juliet promises to write to each other and Gilda leaves.

It is hard to say. While most children have above average psychic ability, most of them do not recognise it or develop it and therefore, the said psychic ability would die down following puberty. However, like most things supernatural, the truth is far from near and while it may be cool, or even scary for the kid with the psychic powers, it is often adivsable to keep them to his or her self. WIth more visible psychic phenomenon, such as telekinesis (moving objects with your mind), the child may instill fear in his or her friends. It is not uncommon for people to react with anger, hatred and fear regarding something that is unusual or "unnatural" to them. After all, human's aren't the most accepting species on the planet... It is just the same with the less visible of psychic phenomenon, premonitions, telepathy, empathy...most people often believe that the child is making it up...for attention. And one cannot blame them though, it is hard to accept something that is so intangible, so fantastical as the supernatural, especially in a society that demands tangible scientific facts. But this still does not completely answer the question. I find, as a psychic myself, that it is often easier to just keep quiet about my abilities or, when i really have to share them, only with people with open minds, or similar abilities.
