If your car has an oil cooler that's part of the radiator then the most probable reason would be that it's sprung a leak there. You may also have a blown head gasket, which is something that also can open up a connection between coolant flow and oil flow.

The head gasket could be leaking between water jackets and the cylinders. No visible cracks would be seen as they would be internal within the gasketing material. James

It is more that likely the coolant temp sensor, Its really easy to change (if you have some mechanicalness) i would go to the dealership and buy the sensor, they're not to much maybe $20. These sensors are known for cracking. The sensor is on the head if i remember right, right above where the transmission bolts to the engine, I think you need a 10mm deepwell socket. I think you have to take off a couple other simple things to get to it. when you take it out coolant will start coming out, so unless you want to change your coolant to put it in really quick. and there ya go. Also maybe test you fan just to make sure, All you need to do is put 12volts to it with some wires.

A normal temperature reading for a vehicle would be between 180-192 degrees F. Temps of 200 and higher can damage an engine.

There is a product that you can buy and add to your radiator called STOP LEAK. Add this product according to the instructions. Be careful, this product can also clog up your radiator if not used properly.

A 50/50 mixture of water and ethylene glycol antifreeze in the cooling system will boil at 225 degrees if the cap is open. But as long as the system is sealed and holds pressure, a radiator cap rated at 15 psi will increase the boiling temperature of a 50/50 coolant blend up to 265 degrees. If the concentration of antifreeze to water is upped to 70/30 (the maximum recommended), the boiling temperature under 15 psi of pressure goes up to 276 degrees.

The radiator fan motor is electric. The fan motor fuse may be blown. The fan motor may need to be changed. The engine should not be operated when it is running hot.

Make sure that the fuse and sensor for the cooling fan are working. If these are ok then look at the fan motor, it could be bad.

if it's like my V8 Porsche 914, i had air pockets in the cooling system at the water pump. when air is at the water pump there is nothing to push water. Therefore overheating.

Other things to check is water pump and radiator.

The radiator can be flushed with water running continuously. This will flush out any loose particles. The only way to completely clean the radiator is to have is professionally cleaned in a chemical bath.

YOU PROBABLY HAVE A BAD OR CLOGGED HEATER CORE IN THE VEHICLE. DEPOSITS AND SEDIMENTS CAN FIND THERE WAY INTO THE HEATER CORE (NORMALLY LOCATED INSIDE THE DASH ASSEMBLY). NORMALLY A FLUSH OF THE CORE WILL HELP YOU OUT, IF NOT, A NEW CORE WILL BE NEEDED.

The core was really clogged, but under pressure it blew out, flushed the engine. Lower hose to the heater core coming from the engine is very hot, while lower radiator hose is almost even cold, what do you think?

No. Over the years, being a mechanic, I've tried every imaginable attempt at repairing the plastic and nothing has held. REPLACE THE RADIATOR. Usually radiator shops have the best prices.

BEG a mechanic to repair it for you. He will charge you by the hour to fix the problem.

Normally the temperature is about 10 degrees hotter than your themastat opening temp. If you dont have a themastat, and depending on driving conditions, it will be somewhere between 180 and 230 degrees, because water boiles at 232 under 14lbs pressure ( radiatior cap pressure). So it can't get much hotter that that without boiling over and over heating.

You really shouldn't use coil cleaner on a radiator. Unless the cleaner specifically says that this is one use you should use the proper cleaner.
