>>CAN THIS BE USED FOR POSION IVY?

Yes you can use it on poison ivy, but I would not reccommend it because it is a very strong antibiotic; you should not use antibiotics unless you have an infection... why use a prescription if you don't need to Cortaid works just as well for poison ivy (not MRSA) and is over the counter.

Can children get a scarlet fever rash without having strep throat?

Yes, ... my son recently approached me one night with a red, rough rash that resembled tiny little bumps all over his chest and his back. The rash hadn't yet spread to the lower abomen and back, but we went to the ER to get checked out. He did not have a fever, his throat was red - according to the Dr., and he maybe had a slight cough, but nothing really persistent. Definietly nothing that would have me concerned that he might have strep throat...His throat culture for strep came back negative, but the Dr. placed him on antibotics for ten days...the rash cleared up in around two days, and it never spread further....so I am still questioning whether or not this was due to strep throat, but it makes sense. They called it a "Scarletina" rash. - from strep. They also said even though a culture comes back negative, you can't always trust the results. My son is fine now, and no more rash!

What does a Lamictal induced rash look and feel like and is there a remedy while staying on the drug?

Most people who are allergic to sulfa based medicationss are also allergic to Lamictal. The reactions vary from blisters in the mouth to busted eyeball capillaries, to a very serious SJS or TENS reaction.

Pain in the ankles and the joints feeling like glass is inside of them are also symptoms, and the sufferer is often prescribed other medications for conditions which simply do not exist.

If you take Lamictal, be on the lookout as the side effects are as violent as the bi-polar condition itself.

Most people start to show signs of side effects within 10 days of the dosage.

What causes nappy rash?

Diaper rashes are often caused by the chemicals used as fragrances for wipes and diapers. The best thing to do when finding an inflamed area with a pattern connected to the diaper contact area, is to try and determine the cause. It could be an allergic reaction to the specific brand, if so you should think about what brands you are using and what might be causing the irritation, as well as using cloth diapers. There may also be an infecition, in which case you might have to think about refering to a doctor for more details on topical antibotics.

Can your breastfed baby have an allergic reaction from something you ate?

YES!!!!

Although it's extremely rare! In case a baby shows an allergic reaction to breast mik, it is more likely that it reacts to foods which the mother eats, as they pass through the breast milk into the baby's digestive system. On many sites (especially on forums) you read that "babies are never allergic to breast milk". This is NOT true! It is very rare though. There is a genetic disease called methylmalonic acidaemia (MMA). This condition means that the baby is unable to breakdown protein and thus the protein in the milk is poisoning the whole body. This is a very serious situation and can eventually result in the babies death, if the breastfeeding continues (see http://www.itv.com/Lifestyle/ThisMorning/Health/AllergictoBreastMilk123/default.html). More info here: http://children-allergy.com/is-your-baby-allergic-to-your-breastmilk

In very rare cases a mother's immune system can create antibodies (transmitted through the breast milk) that can be harmful to her baby. In that rare case, the baby cannot continue breastfeeding and the mother will be offered a shot by her medical doctor to prevent this kind of immune response in future childbearing. Again that's very rare, and the number one symptom of that is SEVERE jaundice. If you suspect that your child is suffering from food-allergy you should consult with your pediatrician. Unfortunately many pediatricians are reluctant to conclude that a child is allergic to food. Your may have to fight your corner. Also many are hesitant to tell a mother to drop things from her diet, because they're concerned about her nutrition. Stand your ground and if your pediatrician refuses to listen to your concerns, you can ask to be referred to an allergist.

Can the use of liquid nitrogen on your skin cause an allergic rash?

No. Nitrogen does not irritate skin. But liquid nitrogen is extremely cold, and it can damage and kill skin (and other) tissue. It is a bad idea to allow your skin to come into contact with liquid nitrogen. Note: Some warts are "frozen" in an effort to remove them. In a clinical setting, liquid nitrogen is sometimes used to super-cool an instrument so the wart can be frozen. But this is a medical procedure and is done by professionals. Liquid nitrogen is not something that should be looked upon as a "toy" or "recreational plaything" by anyone.

Can bactroban cream be used on cyst?

I have a cyst on my intergluteal cleft (butt crack) and since it was not badly infected, my doctor gave me bactroban to put on it every 8 hours (3 times a day) for 10 days.

He also told me to continue the treatment for those 10 days, even if the cyst gets better or disappears after 3-4 days.
