Brake pads are usually between $50 and $100 for a set (each axle), depending on quality. and if you really insist on turning your rotors, you are probably going to pay for 4 hours of labor total with pads installed and rotors turned, labor is also between $50 and $100 per hour. There are many variations as far as "brake jobs" go. You might get there and find out you need 4 calipers too... oops! tack on another $400. Do your self a favor and buy new rotors so your brake pedal doesn't pulsate after 10 miles of lead foot driving!

It is a big hex plug on the center rite side of the case. Can be pretty hard to take out sometimes, so don't be afraid to put some good force on it.

I would check out local auctions on cars to see what they have to offer on pre owned Saabs. I would also check out your local newspaper and Craigslist too.

P0300 Diagnostic Code - Random Misfire

Symptoms.
Engine may stumble or miss
Engine may be hard to start
you may notice no issues

Cause
Failing spark plugs or spark plug wires
Bad coil or coil pack
Failing oxygen sensor(s)
Bad fuel injector or more than one
Stuck exhaust valve
Bad catalytic converter
EGR valve or valve passage clogging
Bad camshaft position sensor
Bad PCM or ECM

The Fix
Best first action is a tune up, new plugs, wires, inspect all hoses and wire connections then reset the code. If it returns you will need to narrow it down to a system, coils and coil packs should be tested, catalytic converters for function ( do you smell rotten eggs?). A misfire that jumps cylinders could indicate a lean condition, do you have any other codes along with the 300? this will help clue you in to the source, check valve function to make sure they are opening and closing fully.
This is probably pone of the most difficult codes to troubleshoot, so start with the basics and work your way into the more expensive options, in many cases a good old tune up solves the problem, back it up with a fuel system cleaning and see where you stand.

Same as Non- Turbo decribed on this site. Although, I have never needed to remove the A/c Compressor or the Alt to complete the repair. A small mechanics mirror is helpful to some for the gasket removal. Scotch-Brite type scrubbing pads work well to remove gasket material bits once the majority is off.

(1) Open the hood; (2)unscrew the retainer from the back of the headlight; (3)pull the bulb socket out of the headlight assembly; (4)pull out the housing clips and remove the housing from the grill. NOTE:on later models there only 2 clips that are pulled up to release the headlight housing - one on each side. After pulling them up, simply move the headlamp housing forward from the vehicle. Well, if your 2003 is like mine (and all the others i assume) then they don't turn off, they're daytime running. This is kind of a pain because i feel like i went through my bulbs faster than if they did not run all the time. And then parking/brights/dash lights can be controlled with the knob to the left of the steering wheel below the air vent (as I'm sure you already know).

Use a jeweler's screw driver, flat head, pointed round file, or similar tool to insert into the small hole on the side. Push on the tab with a force harder than what you think it should need. Angle the tool to the back to pop the back panel off. The cover can be pulled off the rest of the way with fingers. The replacement battery is CR 1632.

simple. you see a black round cover on the back of the headlight. unscrew it and pull it off. now the connector is VERY breakable (trust me i know!) so gently take it off. now is the hard part as its a tight fit and you cant see what you need the part you need to get to so feel with your hands around the bulb. you will feel a hinged hook that you can pull backwards (away from the front of the car). after you do that the bulb should slide right out. to install slide the new bulb in close the hook, reinstall the connector and put the cap back on! have fun!

I own A 2003 Saab 9.3 Convertable And I LOVE the car!!! It is an upscale car in the GM family and is therefor a little on the high price side to service and maintain but not any more so than most upscale car lines. The biggeest deterrant is the lack of dealers in any area to service the car and many smaller shop don't want to work on them. I am an 35 year GM technician working in a Cadillac shop and would strongly recommend that if you are looking at a used model be sure to have it carefully looked over by a QUALIFIED service tech and make sure the car has been serviced on a regular basis as this car will NOT survive if it is not properly maintained and serviced at the proper intervals. AS with ANY car with a turbo maintenance is CRITICAL !! If you find a good car as I did you will also Love this Car. Hope you ENJOY!!

If the vehicle drives fine, then it is the ECU protecting your engine/drivetrain. Engineers add this to the ECU to keep the geniuses of our society from over revving the engine or revving it high and dumping it into drive. It is there for a reason, so be happy it works.

You can not remove a power steering pump on your car and expect it to handle like a car with out power steering. Removing the pump will make it very hard to steer because the rest of the steering components are made for power steering.

you should be happy you have a 9-5 i have 9-3 and its not as easy as yours. to change fuel pump go under back seat flip them up and carpet has a little access panel cutout on it . flip it up and there is your fuel pump hoses and clips you might have a plastic black cover that's easy to remove,just play with it a little. once that's open theres a yellow clip and it has a red glue thing in the middle. remove that red glue with a sharp pointy object. that will reveal a hex screw so have a set of hex drivers ready..remove screw and pull up yellow bracket slowly while loosening screw.then with a set of adjustable pliers grab the white tip that are connected to the hose and gently wiggle it while pulling up gently this will take a while but will come out.after that .the brown ring around the inner part has to be remove this is a pain to remove spray ring with wd40 and try to get lube aroung the crew part of this ring. to remove ring is very hard let lube do its thing.you might want to get a flat peace of steel and mold it in a U shape to fit inner ring lipsthe little notches and put a long pipe crossing from one side to the other of this U shape bar to use as handle to remove ring .spin counter clock wise till ring is removednow you can remove the fuel filter canister .this takes a little to take out but be patient playing with it there is a floter arm pointing toward the back of the car you donot want to bend that in anyway cause it will throw of your gas measurement.so be gentle and patient.also once you get fuel fuel canister out have 3 very small hose rings ready as when you open fuel canister the fuel pump will have a few hoses you will have to cut a little to get of the nipples in the hoses and wont be able to slide back on the new fuel filterwith out tightetning up with these hose clamps. (its kinda hard doing all this with out illustrations. for alot easier instructions with pictures try visiting saabnet.org or saabnet.com one of those that's were i got all my info for my 1999 9-3 they are the same removal except the 9-3 you must cut the meatl from car body to reach fuel pump access port on top of fuel tank .you will not have that issue with the 9-5 its no cutting involve. check their site out its very helpful its in the forums section type Saab 1999 fuel pump removal. it saved me 785 dollars.now i do this installation in my town for $550and made a bunch of money from local Saab owners . my email is killaklownspaintball@yahoo.com i live in jersey.

I am not too familiar with this car but the only thing I can think of is Possibly a bad wheel bearing I suggest replacing it.
