How do you stop a car if sliding on loose gravel down hill?
Locking-up your brakes is almost never a good idea except in this situation.
If you find yourself sliding and you're on loose gravel or dirt or even snow, Lock-Up your brakes! This will create a build-up of stuff under your tires and stop you faster.
But you're at the mercy of the law of physics. Whichever way you were heading before mashing on your brakes is the same direction you're going to continue until you stop or let off of the brakes allowing your tires to get traction again.
How do you check the slack adjusters condition in commercial vehicle?
that's easy if the slacks are working they will adjust the brakes .if they are not working the brakes will be out of adjustment.
I work at a class 8 truck dealership, there are 2 types of slack adjusters, auto and manual. If you have auto slack adjusters, they will adjust themselves to a point, however, if you have no braking capability to speak of other parts are probally wore out, s cams or clevis posibbly s cam bushings, brake chambers. Manual slack adjusters should be checked in my opinion only at least at every pm or when braking capability suffers. Those big trucks take a lot more time and space to stop and their brakes had better be in good shape or dot will shut them down if caught.
Why should a truck driver put the starter switch key in your pocket during the pre-trip inspection?

You should not drive too fast for the turn.
Once you are in your turn, your foot should not be on the gas pedal.
On your average 90 degree left turn that would be near 15mph.
On your average right turn that will be near 10mph.
this can vary depending on the width of the turn.
brake before the turn.
Coast through the turn.
A little speed (usually gas) out of the turn.

Why does a car skid when brakes are apllied suddenly?
In terms of Physics, a car's tires will skid on the road due to a difference in the coefficient of friction between the two surfaces. Other forces also play a role in determining whether or not the car will have enough frictional grip to stay on the road i.e. the normal force, gravity, other external forces.

You usually cannot have your highs on within 200-250 feet of an oncoming vehicle. Essentially, if you can see any kind of glare from their headlights, you should disable your highs. You should not be driving with your high beams on unless on a country road where no light posts are installed or during inclement weather where visibility is less than 5 miles.

How fast should you drive with chains on your tires?
Its important to know that you need the correct size chains for your tires. If they are properly adjusted well fitted chains. You should be able to travel up to 40mph depending on road conditions. Keep in mind the average speed you drive with chains is consistent with how long they will last. I tend to keep it under 30mph.
As a general guideline, 30mph on properly tightened and adjusted chains should be max. If the conditions are bad enough to warrant the use of chains you should anticipate a slow rate of travel and not be in a hurry or try to 'push' the boundaries of what is safe or prudent. This is true for 'cables' as well as 'chains'
Can you use cruise control on ice?
VERY bad idea to do this.
no it guves you less control and if you beging to skidd your cruise control will tell your car to accelerate and you will take off like a plane
Generally you have your wheels turned enough to begin making the turn, and your indicator should be flashing for a minimum amount of time before turning. Hence, you both turn and signal while waiting.
Advantages of of abs brakes in car?
In a car without ABS, if you slam on the brakes, your wheels will lock and your car will skid. ABS prevents the wheels from locking by releasing the brakes if you start to loose traction.
