What makes 'minor' notes sound sad?
because of half notes. they are in both major and minor but major scales push out the halfs. you see the great full notes and the sick half notes but it doesnt matter they are only existing for the whole twelve. nothing more. but if you look minor scales you ll see the acceptence of half notes like life nothing glorius nothing damned.
Why do they use only white and yellow paint on roadways?
Several reasons.
Lowest cost colors. Longest lasting colors. Very visible under most conditions. Other colors would more likeyl confuse or not been seen by people who are color blind. While they may not see the difference between white and yellow, at least they don't blend into the road surface as red, blue or green definitely would.
White and yellow paints are universal throughout the entire United States highway system. Yellow is always used to signify caution,(ie) broken yellow means passing zone using caution, white is used to designate the farthest to the right you may safely drive, it's also known as the"fog" line.
I would definitely try to write the scale in B. If you were to write it in C flat then you would end up having to use accidentals that are not very common called double flats.
The difference is in the 3rd key on the scale. that 3rd gives a happier sound to the major scale.

The D'Arezzo solmization as it is sometimes called had only 6 notes and the si was added in the 18th century, but the ti is often used instead. The full octave was the now familiar ut re mi fa sol la si ut, except for the ut now being do. Previous to d'Arezzo the notes were designated A-G, A corresponding to la, B to si, etc, this system is also still used today. It is also because the Ionian mode has become our major scale, which starts at C, and has only natural notes (the Aeolian mode has become our minor scale, which starts at A, and has only natural notes, too; both modes were invented by Glareanus in the 16th century). As well, the lowest possible audible frequency (16 Hz) is C (C0 in scientific pitch notation). However, there is no definite exact lowest audile frequency as it is often said to be 20 Hz which would be at E0 and is sometimes said to be 15 Hz which is at B0. The maximum is 20,000 Hz so the range is about 10 octaves. This is a great question and has been asked before on this website and Answers Yahoo but with the wrong answers in those cases.

A home tone is the note a particular scale starts on; for example - in the Ab major scale, Ab is the keynote and in the key of D major the key-note is D. The only common scales with C as a home tone are C major, C minor harmonic, C minor melodic, C minor (natural), C blues scale etc.
