How did Bacon and Descartes differ in their methods?

The new scientific method was really a revolution in thought. Two giants of this revolution were the Englishman Francis Bacon and the Frenchman René Descartes (ruh nay day kahrt). Each devoted himself to the problem of knowledge.

Both Bacon and Descartes rejected Aristotle's scientific assumptions. They also challenged the scholarly traditions of the medieval universities that sought to make the physical world fit in with the teachings of the Church. Both argued that truth is not known at the beginning of inquiry but at the end, after a long process of investigation.

Bacon and Descartes differed in their methods, however. Bacon stressed experimentation and observation. He wanted science to make life better for people by leading to practical technologies. Descartes emphasized human reasoning as the best road to understanding. In his Discourse on Method, he explains how he decided to discard all traditional authorities and search for provable knowledge. Left only with doubt, he concluded that the doubter had to exist and made his famous statement, "I think, therefore I am."

What does scientist wear?

Anything they like unless their work place has a dress code. However if in a lab they usually wear lab coats.

When did Nikola Tesla invent the car?

Nikola Tesla invented the car. He did turn a pierce arrow 1930 car all electric.

What were some of Nikola Tesla's Major events?

Tesla invented quite a number of electrical devices, and others were often credited for his inventions. This is one reason why Tesla refused to accept a Nobel prize proposed for award jointly to him and Thomas Edison... Edison had exploited him so much that Tesla refused to see Edison get credit for his work. Tesla was a scientist and inventor, not a businessman by nature. Thus he accumulated tremendous debts from business losses, and died a relative pauper. It was only an annual $7200 grant from the government of his native Yugoslavia that kept him from being destitute during his final years when he lived in the United States. Meanwhile, others profited enormously from the inventions he actually produced. Guglielmo Marconi stole Tesla's drawings from the US Patent Office, and it was only after an extended lawsuit that Marconi was exposed as a fraud, and Tesla was credited with his own invention. In 1888 Tesla designed the first practical system of generating and transmitting alternating current for electric power. The American rights to this epoch-making invention were bought by the American inventor George Westinghouse, who demonstrated (1893) the system for the first time at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Two years later Tesla's alternating-current motors were installed at the Niagara Falls power project.

Where was Nikola Tesla educated?

He went to school to Realschule, Karlstadt in 1873 for college,

How does Nikola Tesla impact modern society today?

He invented AC power, so the wall socket is his. He invented radio transmission, so radio and TV are his. He irritated Edison, so the electric chair is his. He proposed charged particle weapons, so Star Wars-type weapons are his. Plenty more, if you want to study him.

How old was Nikola Tesla when he finished college?

He was 22 years when he finished college the first time. During his life he got the

Doctorate and contributed in varying degrees to the establishment of robotics, remote control, radar, computer science, the expansion of ballistics, nuclear physics, and theoretical physics.

When and where did Nikola Tesla invent the toaster?

The toaster didn't have any singularly successful design in pre-electric times, as the coffee pot or the clothes iron did, when toasters began being manufactured they took on dozens of forms, went through many evolutions and, before 1960 at least, were sculptural showpieces that had a place of honor in the home. Nikola Tesla's mind was into electric devices and wireless technology and his mind was not into baking bread or toasting it since bread was available in bakeries all around.

How do scientists find things out?

Scientists find things out by doing experiments.

What did Nikola Tesla's parents do?

Nikola Tesla's dad, Milutin Tesla, was a clergyman. Tesla's mother, Djouka, invented many tools for the farm and home. Djouka's intricate needlework was well-known across the countryside. Tesla would later credit his mother, not father, with his creative and inventing abilities.

What was the impact of Rene Descartes' discoveries and philosophies?

Descartes' work has had a huge impact on the world. His mathematical theories have advanced the study and understanding of geometry greatly, allowing us to solve more complex problems. Additionally, his work as a philosopher provoked important questions about the universe and about humanity that have influenced modern philosophical thought so much that he is sometimes referred to as the father of modern philosophy.

What process did Nikola Tesla use to come up with electricity?

Tesla invented the alternating-current generator that provides your light and electricity, the transformer through which it is sent, and even the high voltage coil of your picture tube. The Tesla Coil, in fact, is used in radios, television sets, and a wide range of other electronic equipment - invented in 1891, no-one's ever come up with anything better.

The Tesla Coil, in fact, is used in radios, television sets, and a wide range of other electronic equipment - invented in 1891, no-one's ever come up with anything better.

Tools used in science?

Some tools that are used in science include microscopes, tweezers, telescopes, computers, maps, and Petri dishes. Other tools include magnifying glasses, chemicals, and even Bunsen burners.

Did Nikola Tesla discover alternating current?

Tesla invented the alternating-current generator that provides your light and electricity, the transformer through which it is sent, and even the high voltage coil of your picture tube. The Tesla Coil, in fact, is used in radios, television sets, and a wide range of other electronic equipment - invented in 1891, no-one's ever come up with anything better.

Additional Answer

Tesla didn't invent alternating current, but it was he that advocated its use in electrical supply systems, when Edison was advocating direct current.

How many kids did guglielmo marconi have?

He had contact with his wife 5 times but his only son was murderd by macaroni!

How many things did Nikola Tesla invent?

Tesla invented fluorescent lighting, the Tesla induction motor, the Tesla coil, and developed the alternating current (AC) electrical supply system that included a motor and transformer, and 3-phase electricity and the modern radio.
