Members of a terrorist group called "Al Qaeda" were behind the events of 9/11. They hijacked the planes and flew them into the towers, because the leader behind the entire event, Osama bin Laden (who is now dead), didn't want Americans to keep getting involved in the Middle East and the Islamic religion.

The twin towers of the World Trade Center were not the only focus of the attacks on 11 September, 2001. Al Queda intended to bring the US and her allies to their knees in a coordinated attack on several targets.

On the morning of 11 September 2001, nineteen Al Queda trained operatives boarded and took control of four commercial flights bound for LA, and San Fransisco. At 8:46 AM Eastern Time, American Flight 11 was crashed into the north face of WTC Tower One. At 9:03 United Airlines Flight 175 was slammed into the south face of Tower Two. As both towers burned in New York City, American Flight 73 was flown at 9:37 AM into the western face of the Pentagon building in Washington DC; and, passengers of United Flight 93 attempted to retake the plane at 10:03 AM and it was driven into the ground near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Al Queda failed to learn from history. While the attacks against the US were serious, as subsequent attacks against other targets in other nations, these only serve to set our resolve. We have entered into a guerrilla war. The US is familiar with this type of conflict, and it has bloodied our national face. It will not defeat us.

Some sixty years ago Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto is alleged to have said, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve," after the Empire of Japan conducted a sneak attack on the Naval shipyard at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1941. While the attribution of the quote is unclear, the results are of crystal clarity. This has been and is being repeated.

Bin ladden(sp?) was angry at the united states and gathered Iraqies(sp?) together so that he could make speeches saying how they should hate America. Yes, if it had happened the way the official report said, it would have been prevented. NORAD scrambles fighter jet planes every time a plane strays off course. Every time except on 9/11.

Yes, 9-11 could have been prevented 100% as with many other high jackings of planes in years past. There were several suggestions made by numerous people in the late 60's and early 70's when sky jackings were occurring rather often..

The most logical suggestion made back then was to impliment a small and affordable change in the enginering and design of large commercial aircraft.

The suggested design change was to make the entire flight deck of all newly built commercial aircraft completely inaccessable from the passenger compartment by adding a reinforced wall and a separate hatch/entrance for the pilots,this would mean that no one would be able to enter the flight deck and take control of the plane..

Had these design changes been implimented decades ago then 9-11 would not have turned out the way it did,the terrorist may still have taken control of the passenger compartments but they would not have control of the plane.

The north tower was hit by American Airlines Flight 11 and the south tower was hit by United Airlines Flight 175. The two other planes that were hijacked and crashed that day were American Airlines Flight 77 (crashed into the Pentagon) and United Airlines Flight 93 (crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after the passengers fought to regain control of the plane).

No one knows or can say for certain how many people actually survived the attacks on the towers. After the first plane struck the South Tower (the second tower hit), only 14 people below the impact and 4 above were able to escape. Most were told to return to their offices and wait for assistance. A total of 23 people were rescued from the rubble after the towers collapsed. There were many more who survived the collapse, but were unrecoverable before they died from their injuries.

What is known from Port Authority records of the turnstile counters below the Towers is that an average of 14,154 people were working in the Towers at the time they were struck.

Why the Terrorists:

There are always groups of people in the world that hate. Hatred is often focused on the United States because of the wealth and world power of the US in comparison to so many other countries and people in the world. There is some validity to hatred directed at the US in that the US government has, on occasion, wielded its power unwisely. Those who hate the US based on mistakes that the government has made focus only on these mistakes, failing to take into the picture the diversity of the people and ideas, or the benefits that the US has also provided to the rest of the world.

Why the Twin Towers:

The goal of the terrorists was to make the biggest impact on targets that represented the wealth and power of the US. The Towers represented the wealth, the Pentagon and the White House (or Capitol building) represented the power. The terrorist were smart enough to know that a lot of people would happen to be in the World Trade Center (Twin Towers) at that time of day on a week day.

Does Newtonian Physics apply to skyscrapers? Shouldn't the physics profession have demanded to know how the steel was distributed down the twin towers in 2002? But Ten Years later we do not have that data.

The significance of 9/11 is that the nation that put men on the Moon has not explained how airliners weighing less than 200 tons with 34 tons of jet fuel could result in the TOTAL DESTRUCTION of skyscrapers 2000 times their mass in less than two hours. People are just supposed to BELIEVE it. That is the significance of 9/11. Engineering schools are not building models demonstrating how it could happen.

So the psychological nonsense of the 9/11 decade is the true significance of 9/11 not the events of that day. This should have been resolved in 2002. So how can so many people admit they were so dumb?

No there has never been a credible link made between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda. The 9/11 attacks where carried out by Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda and the majority of the hijackers, 15 of the 19 came from Saudi Arabia, none where Iraq citizens. Even George Bush said that in 2003: "No, we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th," Bush said. Moreover, Bin Ladin had in fact been sponsoring anti-Saddam Islamists in Iraqi Kurdistan, and sought to attract them into his Islamic army." As we all should know by now, both the twin towers would not have "fallen" straight down from a fire. Many sources have substantiated that bombs were in place in the towers before the planes hit. Whether the bombs were domestic or not, the public will probably never know.
