Sharks have three different ways of reproducing, oviparity, viviparity, and ovoviviparity. During oviparity they lay eggs in the ocean. During viviparity they nourish the pups through placental links, much like mammals, and the pups are born fully functional. because unlike mammals, sharks do not have lungs (like other fish) and the gills act as filters. They process oxygen through the water so they can breath thus the shark always has to keep moving (depending on the species of course)

If you wanted to get eaten alive by a shark, you would most likely be underwater and you would probably drown to death before the shark eats you. (Of course, sharks aren't known for eating humans, and it is more likely that you will get killed by a coconut falling on your head then a shark attack)
Being eaten by a lion would probably take place in Africa, so there would be no drowning. But I would think that being killed by a lion would be worse, cause have you seen those teeth?!
