Workhorse Marlin rifle made for many years until supplanted by the Model 780. Marlin made these in clip magazine and tube magazine versions, with slight variation the Model 81, and thousands of store-brand guns for Sears, Wards, etc. Take care of it and it will last forever. If it doesn't, we make new extractors, firing pins, etc for that model. Not collectable, but valued as a shooter. They routinely sell from $75-$150 over the counter. sales@countrygunsmith.net

From c.1880-1900. Would have to see the frame of the gun to narrow it further. These guns were made by WH Davenport for Shapleigh Hardware. Davenport was taken over by Hopkins & Allen in 1901 and production continued through about 1909. sales@countrygunsmith.net

The Dan Wesson company has gone through several reincarnations since its inception in 1968. Interesting history, intertwined with Smith & Wesson, Browning, Colt and High Standard and revolving around a gun-design genius named Karl Lewis. I believe your gun was made during the Wesson Firearms phase of the company, and should be marked as being made in Palmer, Massachusetts. If that is correct, you can date manufacture to the early 1990's. sales@countrygunsmith.net

1960's.

Springfield was a trade name used by the J. Stevens Arms division of Savage Arms from about 1920 to 1948. Savage-made firearms marketed under the Springfield brand name were prevalent at least into the 1960's. The Chicopee Falls marking on this shotgun indicates manufacture between 1946 and 1959. I have most, if not all, the Savage catalogs and factory parts manuals from 1920 forward and am having difficulty finding a '929' model... can you verify that model number? sales@countrygunsmith.net

These were made between 1926 and 1945 and will sell between $25 and $75, possibly over $100 if in absoulutely like-new condition.

Crescent, Davenport, and Harrington & Richardson all made guns with the Carolina Arms name for Smith-Wadsworth Hardware Co c. 1900. But no one made an OLD one, they were all made as NEW shotguns.

In very good-excellent condition, these will top out at $125 or so. Bolt-action 20ga shotguns are not in great demand. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Several factors involved here. First, is it an AH Fox gun (Philadelphia) or a Savage-Fox gun? If it is a Phila gun, is it a 'hinge pin' gun? What gauge, barrel length, chokes? Is it in original condition or has it been refinished or modified? Most importantly, we need to know what percentage of original case colors are left, what percentage of original blue, what percentage of original finish on the wood? The gun was built by Savage/Stevens for Sears, and is basically the Model 311. There were several different types of forend used on this model. We can probably supply the part, need to know if you require only the wood or the entire assembly including the forend iron. repair@countrygunsmith.net
