Manhatten Arms was a trade name used by several manufacturers on shotguns made for the various large catalog and hardware chains around the turn of the 20th century. The fact that yours is hammerless and marked for 'nitro powder' (smokeless powder) indicates manufacture sometime after 1900 but before 1920. Your gun was probably made by the Hunter Arms Co (the same company that made LC Smith shotguns from 1890-1945) for a major New York hardware/catalog store. As to value, condition and originality are most important. An excellent original example might bring $400 from an LC Smith collector.

I have owned a 12 GA 940A for 35 years, and it WAS in pristeen shape. Just this year I shot a coupple slugs through it. I will never do that again! The barrel was slightly scored, and it opened at the break point, each time! I did minor dammage to the gun, and Im lucky I didnt get hurt.

If it is a J.C. Higgins bolt action shotgun, there is a small set screw on the left side of the receiver top between the bolt handle and the ejection port. Use a flat tip screwdriver and take out that screw. It is litterally the metal peg that the bolt is running back into. Without the screw, the bolt comes straight out the rear.

Probably not going to find an original stock in usable shape. You will have to buy one of the 95% inletted stocks available from companies like Boyd's and finish it yourself. sales@countrygunsmith.net

You can pretty much bet on full or modified, but the actual determination of choke is made by comparison the inside diameter of the muzzle to the inside diameter of the barrel before the bore. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Not sure what you mean by a "12 barrel." If it is a 12 inch long barrel, it has been cut off and is an illegal firearm. In any case, .410 single-shot Stevens guns bring $100 in top condition. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Isaac Hollis & Sons were noted British gunmakers from c.1860-1900. They made many top quality shotguns and rifles with many levels of ornamentation. This is one that should be individually hands-on appraised. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Depends on originality and condition. Most of these rifles were used and abused, since the target demographic was teenage (or younger) boys. Typical Little Scout rifles sell in the $150 range. Truly mint examples are very rare and would reach over $400. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Take it to your local gun dealer, they should be able to give you idea what it maybe worth? I would think you should be able get $500 dollars? -- I'd Imagine So -- It all depends on condition and originality. I turned down a Sweet 16 that had been horribly reblued with a variable choke added, offered at $300. I dont know of any true Parker Brothers shotgun that had a 'rabbit etched in the barrels.' Would need to know exactly how the gun is marked so we can ID it properly.

Take it to a gunsmith. He has much better availability for parts. Western Field was a Montgomery Wards brand, so there isn't going to be a lot of collector interest.
