How do you identify an old J Stevens Arms and Tool Co shotgun?
You can purchase, [or borrow from a library], a copy of, " The Bluebook of Gun Values", take the firearm to a gunsmith or gunshow, or goto shotgunworld.com and join the forums for free, [or just browse to see if your question has already taken care of]. There they have a section specifically for identifying older shotguns as well as sections for specific manufacturers.
What years did the J Stevens Arms and Tool Company make shotguns that looked like Browning shotguns?
The Stevens/Savage M720 was produced from 1930-49 in various versions. M726-1931-49,M740C-1936-49. They also made an aluminum framed model(M745) from 1940-49.
What is the value of a Model 235 double barrel shotgun?
I bought one at a gun show. Well I actually traded. The guy was asking $350. The gun is in good working condition. Original but stock and but plate. Forend not so sure of. Not pitted but it has surface rust. Very tight. I cut the barrel off and use it for cowboy action shooting. These old side by side doubles are starting to go fast at gun shows. I wouldn't take a penny less than $400 for this one.
What is the value of a Stevens model 235 double barrel shotgun?
A fully functional Stevens double should bring between $100 and $250, depending on the condition.
Blue Book of Gun Values, Standard Catalog of Firearms, etc. The Crackshot was one of the "boy's rifles" first manufactured by Stevens in the late 1800's, but the 1913 patent date means yours was made later. If you have written the entire company name as it appears on the gun, it was made sometime after 1920 when Stevens was bought by Savage Arms and before about 1948 when the Stevens line was discontinued.
What were the serial numbers on Davenport shotguns?
WHAT were they, or WHERE were they? There probably are none as they were manufactured long before serialization was required by law. Well, allow me to help you on the question as to where the serial number can be found on a W. H. Davenport shotgun. Remove the barrel. The shotgun I have has a flip open tab on the right side that is attached to a screw. Unscrew that and remove the barrel. On the underside of the barrel, at the breech, you'll find the serial number. Also, I noticed, behind the after end of the trigger guard are two numbers. Those two numbers match the last two numbers of the serial number. I'm not sure of their purpose. If this was helpful drop me a line at z.poet$pam@verizon.net (Of course, remove the $pam from the address.) Cheers, George Note: matching no's will be found on the lock, stock & barrel. The four didgits are found inside the frt stock that cradles the barrel, under the barrel where the lock will conceal when assembled. Also inside the top of the rear stock where the lock is attached, and under the lock behind the trigger guard as mentioned. And contrary to George, all numbers match on my "Davenport". signed the stunner.
What is the age and value of a 12 gauge Sears and Roebuck Model 101.10041 shotgun?
This gun is the same as a Savage Model 94. There were 934,000 made between 1926-1945. Depending on condition pricing is generally between $50-$125.
What is the value of a 12 gauge J Stevens single shot shotgun with a hammer on it like a hand gun?
I paid 60 $ for mine about 6 years ago and had to make a firing pinfor it and I seen them go anywhere from 60 to 125$ depending on condition hope this helps.
Any utility grade single shotgun in working condition is worth about $50 - $75. Would need more information to determine the age - exactly how the J. Stevens company name is written will get us close. There's nothing unusual about a break open single shot having an open hammer if that's what you mean by "cock like a hand gun."
You might try Numrich (e-gunparts.com). If your Knickerbocker was made by Crescent, they can probably help, but if you have a Belgian-made gun probably not.
If fully functional and the plastic stock hasn't broken yet, around $200-250
It was made in 1964. Greetings From Belgium.
Does it say J. Stevens AND Co or J. Stevens ARMS & TOOL Co or J. Stevens ARMS Co? The first would have been made from 1865 to 1886, the second from 1886 to 1915, and the third from 1920 to about 1945 (unlikely if it has damascus barrels). Value is $100 - $300 depending on condition, but only as a mantle decoration. Damascus or twist barrels were fine when they were produced, but were not intended for modern smokeless ammunition. Even if they were proofed for smokeless powder circa 1900, today's smokeless is not the same and after a century the barrels have probably deteriorated.
The Stevens Maynard Junior was manufactured 1902 to 1912. It was a flimsy little gun with a particularly weak wrist, so not many have survived. Today, one in poor condition might bring $100. One in excellent condition would be at least $300.
Who made Charles Daly 10 gauge percussion double barrel shotguns?
You will need to do a detailed inspection. Schoverling & Daly imported shotguns under the Charles Daly name from makers in Prussia (like Schiller and Lindner), Germany (like Heym and Sauer), J&W Tolley of England, Newmann of Belgium, and even LeFever Arms of New York. If you do not know how to disassemble your gun to examine (and reassemble, of course), take it to a reputable gunsmith. The maker's marks and European proofs are there somewhere. The firm of Shoverling and Daly came into being in 1874. I really think that there qouls be few percussion guns sold by Daly. They prided themselves on selling the very best and latest. With this in mind, they were concentrating on breech actioned shotguns. To my knowledge they were buying guns from England and Belgiaum at their beginning. This has to be a pinned gun. Take the forend off and remove the barrels. Look at the proofmarks to see if it be English or Belgian. If German or any of the German States, there will be no proof marks. Same for US production. Hope this is helpful. Best, John
Who made the Western Field Model 30 sb562a 16 gauge shotgun?
From a knowledgeable gunsmith, the answer is "Stevens"
What is the value of a Champion 20 gauge choke single barrel shotgun?
Since there are no IJ collectors bidding these up unless in like-new original condition, it is worth from 1/2 to 2/3 the price of a new single shot or about $45-$60. Or even less if it is rusted or broken. But then, if you can add a few dollars worth of electrical parts to a rusty one, these are offered as floor lamps for $300 or more.
What kind of single barrel rolling block shotgun with a side hammer has a a B in a shield trademark?
I would need a more detailed description or photos to be sure, but I suspect you have a "Zulu" shotgun. These were made in the late 1800's by removing the breech of old military muzzle loading percussion military arms and fitting them with various types of breech loading mechanisms as cheap shotguns. The B in a shield is probably a European proof mark.
What is the value of a 38 5 shot Iver Johnson revolver 4 6 88 6 that you just bought at an auction?
Value will depend a lot on condition, but the real definition is "a price that is acceptable to a willing buyer and seller", so unless either you or the seller was forced into the transaction, the value is what you bid. That said, I hope you didn't pay more than $35 if it is badly worn or inoperable or more than about $150 unless it is absolutely like new. If you got the original box in good condition, it is probably worth more than the gun. The first course of action to discern the value of a gun is to identify the make, model, manufacturing date, and variation. The book "Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993" by W. Goforth will accomplish this. Then it's a simple matter of looking your gun up in one of the many firearm value books, such as the Blue Book of Gun Values, or the Standard Catalog of Firearms.
What is the value of a 22-20 gauge over under?
Value of the Model 24 varies greatly by exact model, condition and .22LR vs. .22 mag. The .22LR over 20-gauge is usually in the $200 to $400 range. Well-used examples may bring less, excellent ones more.
I would like to get brand and model numbers to consider for purchase...anyone have an idea?
Where can you find information for J Stevens shotgun serial number A9635?
It's your job to provide enough information to identify the gun first. Stevens shotguns were made from about 1865 until 1991 and the assembly number (that MAY be a serial number if it recently manufactured) does not give a clue which model it is.
What is the age of a J Stevens 16 gauge shotgun model number 1078?
It would be appoximatley 54 years old. Possibly a little older or less, but around that area.
Do they still make Western Field 12 gauge shotguns?
No. There never was a Western Field company. That was a trade name owned by Montgomery Wards and the guns were made by a variety of manufacturers including Stevens/Savage, Winchester, Mossberg, and others.
Was there a Hercules side by side shotgun ever made?
Manufactured by Iver Johnson or J. Stevens for Montgomery Wards.
