Showing During Pregnancy

As with everything, this depends on the person. Some women report their stomachs getting firmer toward the end of their first trimester. Most common seems to be stomach hardening at about 18-28 weeks. Other women say their tummy did not get firm until after 30 weeks.

I'm not exactly sure. It could be because your tummy muscles are stretching and if your only a few weeks into your pregnancy, it probably adjusts back to its normal size. But I'm not sure about this.

All women are different. Not showing at 5 months can be normal. If you are going to the doctor for regular check ups, everything is fine. If you aren't getting regular care, you need to start now. But not showing this early, is common. No need to worry, but if you have other questions contact a doctor.

Everyone's different. Some women look like they're about to explode at 5 months, while others don't even look pregnant. maybe your baby is small. As long as you go to the doctor and the doctor says that the baby is healthy then it's fine. nothing to worry about.

I had my first baby at 40 and did not show until about 6 months. Quite likely your tummy muscles are pretty strong. My son was 9 lbs. I definitely showed in the last trimester.

No part of a girls stomach gets hard while she is pregnant. Except if she eats too big a meal. The stomach really isn't part of the pregnancy except to get nutrients to the baby from the food the mom eats.

It will depend on if the short woman is big or small. I am a larger woman, 189 lbs. before I got pregnant and 5 feet 2 inches. For most of my pregnancy I just looked really big. This excludes carpal tunnel. Carpel tunnel is only the thumb and the second and third fingers (the supply of the median nerve.) If all 5 fingers are numb and tingly, then it is a vascular problem, more than likely due to a biomechanical misalignment in the shoulder, or hypertonic muscles in the neck or upper pectoral region. The vessels that supply blood to the hand must pass through a series of muscles in the neck, clavicle, chest, shoulder area. If a muscle is too tight or a biomechanical misalignment is causing the vessels to stretch, then you'll be missing out on proper blood supply to the hand. This presents as a "pins and needles" or numbness. You can surgically cut your flexor retinaculm, as in carpal tunnel treatment, but you can't unboil a hard boiled egg. Why don't you try conservative treatment first. A chiropractor is the professional answer for you. They can deal with any of these problems and then some. If your problem is in your thumb and second and third fingers....or if it is in your last two fingers, then it is a problem with a nerve. Even then, most of the time, an adjustment to the bones of the wrist can clear it right up. It won't hurt to try a chiro first. If that doesn't work, then you can permanetly cut your wrist.

I have met a girl that was six months pregnate almost 7 months,5"5 in height,and about 110 pounds, and nobody in our class knew she was pregnate until she said something and we all couldn't believe it because of how far along she was and how small she was. But her baby was healthy even though she wasnt even showing and she was the smallest pregnate woman I had ever seen for being that far along..So I think you are fine, if you are worried you should probably go get and ultra sound done and makes sure that everything is fine, but i would say you are....Congradulations!

I never really noticed my stomach feeling larger at night when I was pregnant with my first child, but, it doesn't seem to me that it would be abnormal. After all, throughout the day you have consumed many different drinks and foods and would normally weigh more or feel heavier in the evening. Also, your baby may position himself/herself differently at night giving the illusion that your stomach is bigger. For example: if they have turned their back to be facing outwards this may make your stomach appear larger or feel harder.

Some women havbe very good muscle tone which holds the belly in, some have a small baby and some just seem to hide it away somewhere.

You have four choices: The best choice is the Empathy Belly. This is a device you can get to simulate a pregnancy. You get it from the hospital, put it on your husband and let it kick him around for a few days; then he'll "know" what pregnancy is like for you and will supposedly be nicer to you. (It's only a partial simulation--it doesn't come with hormones--but it's supposedly pretty good.) These are the best choice but they're nearly $500--if you can't borrow one from the hospital for your production, try... Some theatrical stores sell pregnancy prosthetics. They look really good. Halloween costume stores sell padded bellies; they look okay. Or if you want to get cheap, just go to a fabric store, buy a pillow form for a round pillow and go forth from there. The other option is to cast an actual pregnant woman in the role.
