Does vinegar and baking soda rid dogs of skunk smell?
It helps; but I have found that Spray and Wash along with a citrus dish detergent followed by fabric softener actually works better than tomato sauce/or juice, hydrogen peroxide and soap with baking soda, or vinegar with baking soda and detergent. Regardless of which method you choose remember to ONLY WASH THE EYE AREA WITH WATER, although for severe cases in the eye I have used diluted baby shampoo and quickly rinsed it well. Please also remember that water in the ears is uncomfortable for dogs. RECIPE: * In a pitcher or medium container mix 1/2 cup Spray & Wash with 1 table spoon citrus dish detergent and 4 Cups luke warm water. * In another smaller container mix 1/4 cup liquid fabric softener with 4 cups luke warm water. DIRECTIONS: * Gain your cool! Your dog has already been punished and you do not want to break your dogs trust in you and in baths. Your dog was following its instinct to protect you, so be soothing not rough and angry! * Wet the dog down and rinse as much of the skunk smell off as possible. * Wash with the Spray and Wash solution using small amounts at a time, use a wash cloth to carefully wash top of head and neck area- AVOID THE EYES! Allow to sit on the dog for a few minutes 3-4 if possible. * Rinse well - again avoiding the solution from going into the eyes. * Let the dog shake off! This will help remove excess moisture and smell. * Repeat with the fabric softener and let sit 1-2 minutes. * Rinse well. This can be drying to your dogs skin and is NOT intended for regular bathing as it can be irritating to the skin. I do suggest allowing your dog to eat a raw egg with bread, or some tomato sauce or juice to help cut the taste and smell in the mouth area. You may notice a little lingering smell for a few days and repeating the bathing practice can help but often the smell comes from the actual mucus membranes that were affected and these just can not be washed. I have found that a few drops of fabric softener rubbed in my hands and then onto the dog help this more than any other thing I have tried. Less is more! Too much will over power you and the poor dog, as well as attract dirt. At this point the dog may try to lick it off and get sick, so go SPARINGLY! Good Luck!
They are omnivors; they eat small rodents, lizards, frogs, eggs, bugs etc and and all manner of leaves, shoots, flowers and roots. Carrot is a root so it is always possible that if a skunk finds one it will probably eat it, if only for the moisture.
Add 2 parts pinesol to 1 part toothpaste (i prefer mint) and apply to the burn area. Cover area with taped down glad wrap and wait 2 hours. remove glad wrap and let it air out overnight. finally, rinse with water. If the smell persists, consult a professional in the yellow pages.
How do you stop a skunks from digging in grass?
Skunks find grubs and worms by digging. You might cover the grass with netting, but they'll probably just dig through it. I don't know of antiskunk spray, maybe you could leave the sprinklers on, or have a sensor turn the sprinkler on when a skunk breaks a beam of light.
Methane, hydrogen Sulfide and many other highly carcinogenic fumes are found in the sewers
Why would the basement toilet produce a bad smell but there is no clog?
The toilet is the lowest point, fluids seeks the lowest level, other sewage is coming up through your basement toilet. The system might be installed wrong or there is a blockage in some discharge pipes. Call a plumber, it can be really bad, when I was a kid we had our whole basement flooded with two feet of raw sewage after a big rain storm.

How do you get rid of dog smell?
Dog smell is tough to resolve.
Your best bet is to take the car to a professional detail shop with a commercial steam cleaner. Home use steam cleaners for upholstery just don't have the same effect as a commercial machine. Additionally the detail guys deal with this equipment on a daily basis, and know how to get the best use of it.
Additionally a detail shop should have a high power O-zone generator that can be run inside the car for a day or two to neutralize bad odors.

The flame from the match does not burn the odor molecules themselves, but rather oxidizes some of the volatile compounds in the air that are causing the odor. The smoke from the match can help mask the odor temporarily by introducing its own scent, but the primary mechanism for odor reduction is through oxidation.
Do you have a picture of skunk poop?
Last nite, July 31st, 2008, a skunk pooped in my courtyard around 4:00am. I went out after sunrise to pick it up. I WAS SO SURPRISED at the amount of worms in his/her poop. I would say that the poop was comprised of 60% worms and 40% food. The best way that I can describe it is that it looked like a white and black rice ball. I felt badly for the little guy. Does anyone know if this is normal? Or should I be concerned about my outside domesticated cats? Or if my dog got hold of any poop in the yard?
Squirrels do not usually migrate, but there have been incidences of squirrel migrations.
September 1803, during the Lewis and Clark expedition Meriwether Lewis noted a migration on the Ohio River. He recorded: "I made my dog take as many [squirrels] each day as I had occasion for. I thought them when fryed a pleasant food." He thought they were moving south because of the weather as they were swimming from northwest to southeast. He observed the phenomenon of migration for several days.
In 1811, Charles Joseph Labrobe wrote of a vast squirrel migration that autumn in Ohio.
Squirrel migrations across the upper Midwest, New England, and the Carolinas were observed in 1809, 1819, 1842, 1852, and 1856.
In southeastern Wisconsin in 1842, a gray squirrel migration lasted four weeks and involved nearly a half billion squirrels.
Robert Kennicott in 1846 said "it took a month for the mess of squirrels to pass through the area."
One of the earliest recorded migrations occurred in 1749 in Pennsylvania.
In September 1881, another large migration occurred near Reelfoot Lake:
In the October 1885, it was reported: "Where the million of squirrels have come from, or what extent of country could ever produce so many, is the question....
A similar migration of squirrels occurred in 1877.
Migrations occur mostly during the month of September .
One occurred in 1968 in most of the eastern U.S and one in the Mid-South was in the fall of 1998.
Migrations are probably due to over population and lack of food.
