Skunks

The size of a cat or smaller with long fur and bushy tails, skunks are easily identified by their distinctive black and white coloration. These near-sighted omnivores have a hearty appetite for grubs and insect pests, and have also been known to consume mice and small rats. They are members of the Mustelid family, which also includes weasels, martens, and badgers. Skunks are found throughout North America, with only one species found in Asia.

When you light a match to clear bathroom odors does the flame burn the odor molecules or does the smoke just mask the odor?

The flame from the match does not burn the odor molecules themselves, but rather oxidizes some of the volatile compounds in the air that are causing the odor. The smoke from the match can help mask the odor temporarily by introducing its own scent, but the primary mechanism for odor reduction is through oxidation.

Do you have a picture of skunk poop?

Last nite, July 31st, 2008, a skunk pooped in my courtyard around 4:00am. I went out after sunrise to pick it up. I WAS SO SURPRISED at the amount of worms in his/her poop. I would say that the poop was comprised of 60% worms and 40% food. The best way that I can describe it is that it looked like a white and black rice ball. I felt badly for the little guy. Does anyone know if this is normal? Or should I be concerned about my outside domesticated cats? Or if my dog got hold of any poop in the yard?

Does a skunk migrate?

Squirrels do not usually migrate, but there have been incidences of squirrel migrations.

September 1803, during the Lewis and Clark expedition Meriwether Lewis noted a migration on the Ohio River. He recorded: "I made my dog take as many [squirrels] each day as I had occasion for. I thought them when fryed a pleasant food." He thought they were moving south because of the weather as they were swimming from northwest to southeast. He observed the phenomenon of migration for several days.

In 1811, Charles Joseph Labrobe wrote of a vast squirrel migration that autumn in Ohio.

Squirrel migrations across the upper Midwest, New England, and the Carolinas were observed in 1809, 1819, 1842, 1852, and 1856.

In southeastern Wisconsin in 1842, a gray squirrel migration lasted four weeks and involved nearly a half billion squirrels.

Robert Kennicott in 1846 said "it took a month for the mess of squirrels to pass through the area."

One of the earliest recorded migrations occurred in 1749 in Pennsylvania.

In September 1881, another large migration occurred near Reelfoot Lake:

In the October 1885, it was reported: "Where the million of squirrels have come from, or what extent of country could ever produce so many, is the question....

A similar migration of squirrels occurred in 1877.

Migrations occur mostly during the month of September .

One occurred in 1968 in most of the eastern U.S and one in the Mid-South was in the fall of 1998.

Migrations are probably due to over population and lack of food.

How can you get rid of frogs that are coming in your house and in your kitchen if you live in Mississippi?

"You can try putting up screens. It should help." This is a stupid answer, if we were all morons this might be helpful. I believe you want to rephrase your question for these morons online to understand, like this: "How do I get rid of frogs already in my home? (presumably hiding behind furniture and such)" And sadly I have the same problem so I got no answer either. 'But helpful answers would be 1. Ways to bait them or attract them out from hiding places. 2. ways to make the places they choose to hide unbearable so they will come out where you can then catch them and put them outside. 3. ways to prevent them from re-entering

And the last one I can answer any cleaning chemical or even possibly natural cleaning supplies spray all doorways and even porch if it won't damage it with them regularly once a week at least every day works better or every other day. and they will not cross that spray they don't like clean smells. (go figure they live in swamps mainly the dirtiest places on earth.)

1&2: The best solution is have a cat that hunts and just wait until they draw them out they hopped behind the tv in my house and I could not get rid of them, but then after hours searching the internet for ways to get rid of them, simply waiting would have worked the cats quickly found and started playing and hunting them until they were out in the open where I took a disposable cup and lid and did the old cup and slide to capture them then I simply threw them out side where they go started leaving the porch light off and using a key light instead and sprayed the door seals with a mild cleaner they have not come back I have sprayed the door seals every week at least though.

What would skunks do if there was no city?

They would probably be really, really happy that there wouldn't be anything destroying it's natural habitat anymore. Skunks, along with all the other wildlife (notice the first half of the word is WILD, as in it lives in the WILD, not civilization) have learned to adapt to cities and other developed areas because their ideal environments, forests, grasslands, wetlands, streams, etc. have all been destroyed and replaced with homes, stores, malls, streets, yards, freeways and train tracks. Not only has their habitat been destroyed, they are being destroyed as well, since most people don't want skunks living in their yards (I don't mind, since I had a family of them living under my porch and I thought the babies were adorable). They are also hit by cars, "removed" by exterminators and animal control, loathed by pet owners whose dogs have been sprayed, and killed in many other ways that would not even exist if there weren't cities. So, what would skunks do if there was no city? In short, the happy dance!

P.S. This question is worded very poorly. The grammar is bad and it doesn't really specify what kind of information you are looking for. Maybe the next time you ask a question on this site, you could be a little more detailed. Theoretically, skunks would do whatever the heck they feel like doing so the only way to really answer this would be to go find one and ask them.

There are 3 ways: one way is mothballs are a deterrant. The second way is skunks are usually afraid of people and will go in the other direction. And the best way to deal with skunks as they are one of the most rabbid animals next to the fox is to just shoot it and kill it!

Also the even better way to chase skunks away is to shake a set of keys at them, the more keys the better
