What do you do if you can't fall asleep and lie awake all night?

There are various methods you could try short of obtaining some sort of sleeping medication, effects will vary. Do your best to clear your mind. If this is not possible you might try "counting sheep" or doing math problems in your head. Try to relax and loosen your muscles, and breathe deeply using your diaphragm. If your head/neck are in an uncomfortable position your ability to fall asleep will be affected and maybe compromised altogether, so utilize your pillow and do your best to find a comfortable position in which to lay.

This is all very good stuff. In addition, try these things: Define yourself as one of these: A "back" sleeper, a "stomach" sleeper or a "side" sleeper. If you are a back sleeper, get a medium-firm pillow. Stomach sleeper, you want a soft pillow. Side sleeper: Very firm pillow (memory foam is excellent). Other things to try: Before you get in bed, get down on all fours and lumber all around your bedroom like a lazy bear - do it until you are exhausted or weary with it - then climb into bed.

Use your imagination. When you get into bed, you have just come in from a bone-chilling cold, and someone has a clean, well-blanketed bed for you to climb into. You are blessedly grateful. You'd be amazed how that can help!

Hi I'm only 14 but have been staying up till 1 or later most nights and its making it rather difficult to wake up so early In the morning can someone recommend what I should do?

Being on the computer late at night is probably your biggest mistake. Humans naturally produce something called "melatonin" that helps them sleep. When you're around artificial light like the glow of a computer screen, your body gets confused and doesn't produce it as readily. Try turning off the computer a few hours before you plan to sleep and read a book instead.

The best way is to have one parent stay with the child in her room until she falls asleep. You can even get in bed with the child, but it is important to teach the child that it is safe to sleep in her own bed. If she comes to try to get in bed with you in the middle of the night, carry her back to her room and stay there with her until she falls asleep.
