How do you use tobacco free snuff?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You stick it in your front lip or in the sides of your mouth and pretty much suck the flavor out of it.

Snuff users in the third world often rub the snuff into the gums to give a quick fix, but overuse can damage gums and cause them to recede, eventually leading to tooth loss. If you want to use snuff, it's probably not a good idea to rub it into your gums.

Do clove cigarettes have nicotine?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes.

Clove cigarettes are made with tobacco, like normal cigarettes, often mixed with minced clove buds. The tobacco blend is then treated with a proprietary compound (which includes clove oil) to give them their distinctive taste. In many brands, after the cigarette is rolled, the paper is treated with a compound that may include saccharine to give the paper it's distinctive sweet flavor. (Just the end of the filter in Djarum Blacks & some others, while in other kretek's, the entire cigarette is treated.)

They have tar, nicotine, and other harmful elements just like any other cigarette. Tests indicate that the levels of tar and nicotine is comparable to that found in a 'normal' full flavor cigarette made in the US.

How is chewing tobacco made?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Obviously, the curing process of most common chewing tobacco brands includes fermentation. Even if you only chew or dip occasionally, you probably know that there's a big difference between Copenhagen and Grizzly, Kodiak, etc., with Skoal in between somewhere. This is because Copenhagen ferments their tobacco more, which gives a stronger buzz and harsher taste. Usually, someone who's new to chewing tobacco will prefer a lighter brand.

After you've flavored your tobacco, or simply added molasses, you'll need to seal it. Pressure may also help in the curing process. Some people do this by twisting the tobacco into ropes, some press it into plugs, or you could seal it in a hollowed out log, (see comments beneath linked article).

The next step is to wait. During this time, the tobacco will ferment and the flavor will permeate the leaf entirely. It's up to you how long you wait. It could be anywhere from 1 to 6 months. If you're up to the task of making your own chewing tobacco, I suggest you try many different things, and decide which one gives you the best results.
