Will Social Security Disability affect a custodial parent's child support amount?

No. The non custodial parent's income and assets in conjunction with state laws pertaining to the issue determine the amount of child support that should be paid.

The income of the custodial parent is only considered in very rare circumstances.

How can an F1 student get a social security number?

Yes, anyone on a student visa can get an SSN if he or she finds on-campus employment. Contact your international admissions / student services (IA/ISS) office to obtain a letter saying you're authorized to work on campus. For this you usually have to maintain a minimum number of enrolled units or credits (usually 9-12). Then, contact your on-campus employer and give them the letter.

Your IA/ISS can also provide you with a Social Security Number Letter saying that you have accepted legal employment on campus. Take this letter along with your passport/visa and I-20 to the SSN office and apply.

The SSN is used primarily for tax purposes and also as your credit identification. It used to be that you could get an SSN if you planned to apply for a driver's license (since the DMV requires an SSN). But, since SEVIS, it's become a lot stricter. The BCIS is not going to allow you to get an SSN just so you can get a driver's license. You need to get employed... legally.

Can the state of Illinois take your social security if you and your spouse file chapter 13 bankruptcy?

The "current monthly income" received by the debtor includes regular contributions to household expenses from nondebtors and including income from the debtor's spouse if the petition is a joint petition, but DOES NOT include social security income or certain payments made because the debtor is the victim of certain crimes.

For social security purposes what conditions must an individual meet to be classified as a covered employer?

Other than very special cases of government employees, that pay a very similar contribution, ALL employees are covered (or required to be contributed) employees. Period. If not an employee, the contribution that would be paid by the employer, is paid by the "contractor" or "self employed", but they are still covered. There are no elections or options for either the employer or employee in this.

What should you do if someone knows my social security number?

The process of getting a new social security card should only be undertaken if you've already been a victim of identity theft. If you're worried someone may try to steal your identity, consider putting a credit freeze on your credit report. This will stop ANYBODY from 1)extending you credit and 2) even looking at your credit report.

Here's an article I've found that tells how to add a credit freeze, and explains the advantages and disadvantages:

What percentage of your social security check should you be deducting for your federal taxes?

From your social security benefit amount you will have to determine the amount that you would want the social security administration to withhold for income taxes before they issue your net SSB check amount.

Go to the IRS gov website and use the search box for W-4V Voluntary Withholding Request and choose the percentage amount that you would want them to withhold from your gross benefit amount and get it to the SSA office.

You NEVER do have any deductions for federal taxes or other items from your net take home paycheck when it is issued to you. The net amount that is on the paycheck that you have in your hand is your net pay for the pay period after all of the federal taxes and other necessary withholding amounts have been withheld from your gross earnings by your employer payroll department.

You should get the information from your employer payroll department if you really need to know the correct numbers or amount that should be deducted from your gross earnings not from your paycheck.
