On July 22, 2007 first base coach for the Tulsa Drillers of the Texas League, Mike Coolbaugh, was struck in the neck by a line drive while he was standing in the first base coaches box. The impact destroyed his left vertebral artery which caused a brain hemorrage. He was treated immediately and rushed to a hospital but he passed away less than an hour after being struck. Also c1910 Ty Cobb hit a foul ball into the stands killing somebody.

Impove: As a former pitcher, I learned more and more about pitching as my skills and mind matured. For youth players, it shouldn't really matter how fast a player throws, however if that player has developed control and the ability to change speeds. Yes, 55-65 MPH may be a good bar to set, but keep in mind the pitchers like Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Jamie Moyer. None of these guys even on a good day would top 90mph on a fastball. The three gentlemen mentioned have outstanding control, and great ability to change speeds. Velocity is an overrated thing. Hit your spots, throw strikes, and get outs. That equals wins.

Professional softball players are paid less than professional baseball players because softball is not as popular as baseball.

Baseball has a much bigger market in the economy, as proven by the baseball stadiums, playing cards, t-shirts, and hats. Because of all the profits that these things generate, they are able to pay their players more.

Softball does not have this kind of publicity, and there for the money that flows into the organizations involved in the sport do not draw as much money either. Because they do not draw as much revenue as the baseball organizations, they are not able to pay their players as much as baseball players get paid.

Softball originated in Chicago on Thanksgiving Day, 1887. A group of about twenty young men had gathered in the gymnasium of the Farragut Boat Club in order to hear the outcome of the Harvard-Yale football game. After Yale's victory was announced and bets were paid off, a man picked up a stray boxing glove and threw it at someone, who hit it with a broom. George Hancock, usually considered the inventor of softball, shouted, "Let's play ball!" He tied the boxing glove so that it resembled a ball, chalked out a diamond on the floor (smaller dimensions than those of a baseball field in order to fit the gym) and broke off a broom handle to serve as a bat. What proceeded was an odd, smaller version of baseball. That game is now, 111 years later, known as the first softball game. Softball may have seen its death on the day of its birth if Hancock had not been so fascinated by it. In one week, he created an oversized ball and an undersized rubber-tipped bat and went back to the gym to paint permanent white foul lines on the floor. After he wrote new rules and named the sport indoor baseball, a more organized, yet still new, game was played. Its popularity was immediate.

I am from Russian origins and I don't think there is a difference. But if your going to date a Russian who eats traditional Russian foods be prepared. Be prepared for lots of pickled food. Like pickled cabbage, mushrooms, etc. Be prepared for lots of meat and potatoes. OH! And I must warn you........ many Russian families I know LOVE cow tongue. I am not one of them.

If the pitch count is at 2 strikes and 3 balls that is a "full count" meaning the next pitch is the last for that batter. (For all you critics; this is because in softball, if the third strike is fouled out of play the batter is out)

it all depends on material and construction...but mostly marketing hype and reputation. Maple is more expensive then ash because maple is a more desired wood by other fields besides baseball...wood works, furniture, etc.
