The guidelines for a Special Project Assistant's promotion to Supervisor may vary depending on the organization. However, some common criteria may include demonstrating strong leadership skills, exhibiting excellent performance in the current role, showcasing effective communication and decision-making abilities, displaying the ability to manage a team, and having a solid understanding of the company's policies and procedures. Additionally, having relevant experience and expertise in the specific area of the special project may also be considered.
There are currently just over 450 Special Project Assistants, all working hard to help the Supervisors and to make the site a better place for everyone.
And there are a further 44 SPAs who have gone on to become Supervisors and have joined the SPA Alumni, who are using their super powers to continue working on tasks to help keep the site a great place for everyone!
The members of the SPA Alumni are:
And the SPA's are:
There are no set requirements to become a Special Project Assistant, other than being a member of the site. Since the minimum age to join the site is 13 years old, this means that all SPAs should be at least 13.
There are no limits on how long a user has been on the site or how many contributions have been made. There are also no limitations as to how often a member uses the site, or how many warnings or blocks they have received.
Anyone is welcome to join, and the group is open to anyone wishing to learn more about the site tools, how things work, those wishing to become supervisors but lack the experience, or those just wanting to help make things better on the site by helping out with tasks!
Special Projects Assistants do not get any 'powers', as they are still normal contributors. However, one they have completed enough tasks and prove they are ready to be promoted to Supervisor, they get powers.
No, although users are often members of both programs.
Stupid Little Genius is a Senior Supervisor, Senior Mentor, Wiki Reviewer, Wiki Guide, Bug Catcher, Vandal Patrol, WIT Adult Advisor, Double Platinum Contributor and she is the one who coordinates Special Project Assistant program here on WikiAnswers.

The primary difference between a Special Project Assistant and a Community Assistant is that a SPA is a volunteer contributor and a CA is part of the Answers.com Community Development staff, who help facilitate the website. Community Assistants get paid for their work and Special Project Assistants do not.

Stupid little genius is currently away from the site so the SPA program is under a hiatus right now. If you are interested in becoming a supervisor or doing tasks that were similar to the ones assigned in SPA you can join the TIP program by contacting Skullcandy88 or Xnicola.
Yes, some tasks that are given to SPAs involve answering questions. Some call for questions that already have answers to be edited, others are about correcting spelling or grammar, and others call for vandalism to be cleaned up. However, some tasks involve writing answers from scratch! There are many different types of tasks!

Anyone who Graduateds the mentoring program and then became a Mentor them self can mentor an SPA.
A Special Project Assistant (SPA) gets the same tools a regular contributor gets when he/she becomes a member of WikiAnswers. It is only the Supervisors who have additional tools.
A Special Project Assistant can do the following:
If an SPA completes a certain number of tasks to a high standard, they will be offered the opportunity to become a Volunteer Supervisor. This number of tasks will vary from SPA to SPA, as everyone learns and picks thing up at a different rate. The average is about 25 tasks, but some do more, and some do less.
Once they have become a Supervisor, they can then choose to continue with the tasks if they wish and still help out with the site. The tasks then take advantage if the Super Tools and help the Super SPA get used to the changes.
So technically speaking one can never finish all the tasks, because Stupid Little Genius has a never ending supply!
According to the Help Center of WikiAnswers, the SPAs "perform tasks such as seeding new questions, recategorizing Q&As, cleaning up vandalism and spam and other critical daily activities that lend to a better overall user experience for all members of our community. They believe in giving for the greater good and are recognized by Supervisors for their time and effort."
When a user decides to become an SPA, they are given tasks in areas that hopefully interest them. The tasks are all submitted by Supervisors, so by completing them, the SPAs know that they are helping in the areas that need it!
The tasks are normally quite simple and might involve things like:
But most of all, being an SPA is a chance to have some fun while on WikiAnswers!

Special Project Assistant tasks are always different, so SPAs never know what their next task is going to be. A list of tasks you certainly will get in your time as an SPA is:
Usually, SPAs tasks will be similar to what needs done on WikiAnswers at the moment.
The SPA program was originally conceptualized in 2008 by Brave3, a former Community Coordinator and current Supervisor.
It was later taken on by Deb, a Community Assistant, and Stupid Little Genius, a Supervisor and made what it is today.
Matthew C. had the idea to help those wanting to become supervisors to learn more about what supervisors do. The program grew from those ideas. Stupid little genius made it the success it is today.
