Why does Toronto have a much milder winter than Ottawa your nation's capital even thought Ottawa is not much farther north?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The moderating effect of the Great Lakes on Toronto's climate helps to keep temperatures milder in the winter compared to Ottawa, which does not have this influence. Additionally, Toronto's urban heat island effect from the city's infrastructure and population can also contribute to slightly warmer temperatures during the winter months.

How long does it take to train as an architect?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It now takes an average of EIGHTEEN Years to become an architect.

  • You need approximately 5 years of undergraduate plus 3 more years of graduate school.
  • Then you must complete the requirements of the Internship Development Program. This means that licensed architects must supervise you as you complete a certain number of hours doing a certain number of different categories of architectural practice. In order to get all of your hours, you will probably need to job hop quite a bit, incurring moving costs each time. The IDP was intended to take three years. On average, it takes people 9 to 10 years.
  • Once you have completed the IDP, you will be allowed to take the Architectural Registration Examination. There are seven parts. If you fail one part, you will be required to wait six months before you are allowed to retake that part.

After you do all of that, you may now legally call yourself an "architect!"

Did Lincoln ever live in Ottawa IL?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No. He didn't. He was born in Kentucky, but later moved to Iowa, and then to Illinois. He lived in New Salem for a short time, then moved to Springfield Illinois. He considered Springfield his home; the only house Lincoln ever owned is in Springfield Illinois. Besides, if you think of it, Lincoln, Illinois had to be named AFTER Lincoln became president, therefore he could not have lived there as he died while living in the White House.

Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Both on Good Friday 1865, in Ford Theater, while watching the play Our American Cousins. He died the next day. Rest In Peace Abraham Lincoln.

Is Ottawa colder than Moscow?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Hard to say it all depends... Moscow is alot farther north but Europe gets hit with warm air coming from the caribbean..id say during summer months Moscow is cooler but during the winter I would give higher % to Ottawa being colder. I got my info from looking at weather patterns. It is November 27,2013 as I speak and it is "-3C in Moscow,Russia" and it is "-5C in Ottawa,Canada". Moscow's Temperatures for the week dips to a low of -8C while Ottawa's dips to -13C.

But right now it is -18C in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia so it is most likely the coldest capital city in the world...More or less because it has a very high elevation.
