Windows is usually configured by default to clean your desktop of unused and rarely used icons every 60 days. You can change this setting by Right-Clicking your desktop, then click properties, select Desktop tab, then select the button Customise Desktop. Here you need to untick the box that says Run Desktop Cleanup every 60 days.

A shortcut is a small file guiding you to the original. Often used to gather programs of folders on the desktop for quick use whit out filling the folder with large data. You can see it's a shortcut by a small white box with a blue arrow on the icon. You can not "remove" the shortcut other than deleting it.

By placing the original file it self in the location of the shortcut you might brake a program.

The ini files are recoverable with the installation disk or the software. If the files are not found with the purchased package, contact the company for a new copy.

The maximum usable pagefile for windows xp is 4gb

The maximum usable pagefile for windows vista 32bit, is also 4gb.

Now if you use XP or Vista 64 bit version, then the maximum is 32gb.

Normally the ideal pagefile is exactly 1.5 times the amount of ram set for both maximum and minimum. So 512mg of ram, 768 should be the max and min pagefile setting. But since the 32 bit operating system is limited to 4gb, you should set it to 4096 max and min.

I got the same problem on renamed the avpcc.dll to avpcc.dll2 .AVPCC.DLL is no Windows System Data DLL. I think it is part of the virus so you can rename it first and delete it later whene there no other errors appear.

Don't forget the Registration-Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows (I use Win2000). Delete at least the name with value "avpcc.dll" using the Registration Editor regedit. This will prevent Windows trying to start that dll at starttime. WP

All Trojan horses are hidden files so you would need to go to the Files Option (click the View tab)at Control Panel and uncheck both the *Hide file extension for known file types & *Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)-boxes, then OK yourself out. You will then need to restart your computer and and go into Safe Mode by holding the F8 key down -(kind of at the beginning of bootup). When you're at the DeskTop screen go to Start/ Search/ For Files and Folders and type up the NAME OF THE FILE & EXT i.e - AVPCC.DLL, you can delete this file from here. Also, make sure to empty your Recycle Bin.

I have had 4 Trojan horses on my C drive and kinda figured out the above method a week ago. I deleted the Temp file from the Restore folder after unchecking the hidden files boxes, then went to SafeMode to delete what virus files that were still there. The disc should 'auto-run' the software all by itself. Just put the disc in the drive and the computer will do the rest. You'll probably get an option for either a 'standard' or 'custom' install - choose standard and let the computer make the choices for you.

The dll file could actually be the cause of you getting the downloader virus. First focus on deleting the dll file and then you can run a virus program to eliminate any other viruses on your computer. First find out what processes that dll file has attached itself to. Go to run and enter procexp. When that pops up go to find dll or handle and enter your dll file name. It will specify which processes it has attached itself. If it's not a vital process then you can kill the process and subsequently delete that dll file. If it's attached to the winlogon.exe or explorer processes then here are a few more steps. Right click on each process seperately and go to properties. Under threads you will need to right click and kill each instance of the dll. You will also need to do this with any handles listed. I had to suspend the winlogon handle. Then you should be able to delete that dll. If it's protected and you can't delete it. Move the file to another folder... I moved it to a new folder in My Documents. Then reboot and you should be able to delete that file. Good luck...

Normally recycler virus is a virus that exploits the autorun feature of Windows. In essence, they recycle themselves by renaming themselves. So as soon as your anti-virus program deletes their actual name in your system, they quickly assign a new name to themselves for their very survival. It copies the autorun.inf files on each drive of the computer, be it permanent or a removable media such as DVDs, CD ROMs, USB Devices, or Memory Sticks. If the registry entry is persistent, you have a hidden process running. The only way to get rid of this is to physically remove the hard drive from the computer and install it as a slave drive in another one (with an antivirus program, of course!). First scan the drive with the antivirus program. Then open Windows Explorer, then go to Tools -> Folder Options. In the Folder Options box, click the View tab. Select "Show hidden Files and Folders", apply, and OK. Browse to the drive and open the Windows folder. Legitimate Windows .exe and .dll files are not hidden, nor are legitimate program files. It will be time consuming, but you will be able to get rid of it with this method eventually.

Corrupt Windows system files can cause Windows restore to fail. You can do a repair install of Windows on top of itself. It's only going to rewrite the system files so the vast majority of your other files and programs will remain untouched. You need your Windows CD...I'm going to assume you're using XP since you didn't say. When you load it, choose "Install"..Then it brings up the partitions you have, most people have one, and you choose to "repair" that partition. Sounds crazy, but it should fix your problem.

i am using a saline system and it is wonderfull. I do not run the clormatic(cell) 24/7. I only use it during the hours that the pool is open,but I do run my filters 24/7.You still need to shock your pools with some sort of chlorine agent ,I use cal hypo.It is not very cheap to get started but it is in the long run.It is easier to get and hold the targeted chlorine levels w/salt.When I perform my shock(weekly) I also add the needed salt.when adding salt the cell must be off for aprox 8 hours(depending on turn over rate)TMI has a good web sight that may help you to make your choice
