Statue of Liberty

According to Wikipedia, the State of Liberty -- a gift to the US from France -- commemorates the friendship between the two countries established during the American Revolution.

I found no historical data showing anyone died while the Statue of Liberty was built. The Americans built the foundation while the French put the 350 premade pieces together. The first reported death at the statue was in 1929 when a man jumped from one of the windows in the crown.

No. The colossus of Rhodes was built before the idea of the statue of liberty and it was destroyed by an earthquake and the bronze stolen by invading Arabs.

Those are two different statues. The statue of liberty stands in New York and the colossus of Rhodes used to stand on Rhodes. Rhodes referes to the Greek Island and not Rhode Island in New York. It was destroyed but it stood 30 meters high and was one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. The liberty lady is a female and the colosus was a male.

Actually, the statue of liberty was built in France and brought over to the US in pieces and put together on or near the little island that it stands on today. It was given to us as a gift for helping France in a war, but I'm not sure of that war.
