Is a mendini violin a good brand?
Hi,
I just got the MV650 mendini violin and am very surprised and impressed. The tone is very nice, the strings play well and setting it up has not been much of an issue at all. My music-teacher friend says I really lucked out with this one, ordering over the Internet. The only real issue is that the case that came with it is not long enough to hold a full-length bow. But I do have another case that will work.
Hope this helps,
Dorothy Pecson

What are the top 10 violin concertos?
In no particular order, the top ten violin concertos are: * Violin Concerto in D Minor- Sibelius * Violin Concerto in D Major- Tchaikovsky * Violin Concerto in E Minor- Mendelssohn * Violin Concerto in D Major- Beethoven * Violin Concerto in A Minor- Glazunov * Violin Concerto in G Minor- Bruch * Violin Concerto in D Major- Brahms * Violin Concerto in G Minor- Prokofiev * Violin Concerto in A Minor- Bach * Violin Concerto in B Minor- Elgar This is definitely an "arguable" top 10 list, but they're all pretty famous concertos. Those are just the ones that came off the top of my head, so I'm sure I missed some other really good ones, but those are the only ones I can think of for now. The list was narrowed down a lot since it was just violin concertos, but these are definitely some of the best. Other notes: * Joshua Bell's CD of the Mendelssohn and the Bruch are fantastic. * Nigel Kennedy's perfomance of the Bach is great. * Schlomo Mintz plays excellent versions of the Mendelssohn and the Sibelius on Youtube. * Jascha Heifetz's CD compiled of the Sibelius, Tchaikovsky and Glazunov is very good. He was a great violinist, but since he played so long ago, the recordings are not always that great.

What is the value of stradivarius model 1732 handmade by Karl Knilling?
It's not really handmade by Karl Knilling. Karl Knilling is just a ficticious trade name for German-made violins imported and sold by U.S. BAND & ORCHESTRA SUPPLIES, INC from St. Louis, Missouri. Your model, in good shape and set up with a good bridge and strings, a bow and the hardshell case it probably came in, might fetch about $250 in excellent condition, and about $150 if it shows signs of wear and use. That's not to say they're cheap instruments, but because they're mass-produced student level instruments, they're never going to be worth much. The model you have was probably made in the late 1980s to early 1990s.
What is it called when you play two notes together on a string instrument?
The notes on the G-string are, open G, first finger A, second finger B, third C, fourth D or you can choose to play D on the next string as an open note as well. Try thinking of it as an alphabet that stops at G and repeats constantly.
Has the name of the violin been changed?
Yes--it originally evolved the rebab, a two-stringed instrument from the Middle East/north Africa. When it came to Europe, it evolved into the rebec, which was similar, and then it became the "lira da braccio," which was played by arm and more of lyre than a violin. In the 1550s, today's violins bean to appear in Italy.
Does a banjo have a hollow body?
Like other acoustic instruments, the hollow body resonates with the string vibrations and amplifies the sound
Can someone restring a violin to be a viola?
Well, no because it'll only end up being a violin... and the only difference between a viola and a violin is it's strings and the size of it for the note pitch....
Well the thing is that for people that aren't commfortable with the violin finger board, they usually have a viola, but there is violin strings. Which means that you are playing the violin all thought the body and shape is the viola. So you can use violin strings on a viola.
How many violins would there be in a baroque orchestra?
This really derends on the era and the occasion: Handels "Music for the royal Fireworks" was preformed in Vaxhall Gardens so a large number of instruments houndreds. However most early Baroque orchestras hav about 12 inst. and a harpsicord or an organ. However in later orchestras we can observe more use of brass (natural trumpets) and woodwind (recorders, and oboes/ shawms) when the orchestras grew the exceeded 20 inst. Hope this helps R.O.D
How much is my Nikolaus Amatus fecit in Cremona 1614 violin worth?
I have a similar label on my violin except the date reads 1726. These violins were made in Germany quite possibly Mittenwald, in the 1880s. The instrument if fixed properly and in good working condition should sound a lot better than the cheap merchandise that's being made today. You might want to bring it to a professional luthier for evaluation. Here is the link for an auction a few years back for a violin with nearly the same label.

I hope this answers your question. Good luck.
What would a good age be to learn guitar?
around fourteen years old?
The best age to start a rock band is... whenever you feel your ready! It's always a good age to get into music, especially rock music! It's one of my favorite genres, besides deathcore (a sub-genre of Metal, which in turn is a sub-genre of Rock), and I think you could learn a lot from the experience. Have fun and send me a message when you've thought of a good band name! And if you want i could send you some of the music that my band has made. Good luck!

Free download for sheet music of Sweet heart of Jesus?
Words are:
Sweet Heart of Jesus Sweet Heart of Jesus, font of love and mercy Today we come, Thy blessing to implore. Oh touch our hearts, so cold and so ungrateful And make them Lord, Thine own for evermore. Sweet Heart of Jesus we implore, Oh make us love Thee more and more. Sweet Heart of Jesus, make us pure and gentle And teach us how to do Thy blessed will; To follow close the print of Thy dear footsteps And when we fall, Sweet Heart, oh love us still.

Will sharpie harm your violin?
A Sharpie marker probably has no effect on the sound or qualityof a violin if you write on it, but I strongly advise you NOT to use one. If you want to put your name on your violin, use a name sticker, as you can take that off, but you can not remove a Sharpie. Especially if the violin is an old one, refrain from doing anything that will leave a permanent mark or damage to it, it will decrease its value significantly and old violins are getting increasingly rare (obviously because there's only a set number and when they break...). I know my violin is almost a century old and, although not in pristine condition, has been valued at around £500. So look after those vintage violins, people!
It depends on the size, you can get a violin that is small enough for a four-year-old to play, or you can get one large enough for a grown adult. you can also get very small full-size violins or larger small-size violins.
He learnt from his father and his uncles, they also taught him how to play the organ and the harpischord. His father and one of his uncles were famous musicians, his father - Johann Amrosius Bach and one of his uncles - Johann Christoph Bach a famous organist. His brother, also names Johann Christoph Bach, taught him how to play the calvichord when he was about 10 years old.
What is the effect of tension on the pitch of a violin string?
Violin strings are held on a violin with tuning pegs. The pegs are then turned until the strings reach the correction tension. The correct tension is when the strings are in tune. Adding more tension to a string by turning the pegs will increase the pitch and turning the pegs in the opposite direction will lower the pitch. The strings on a violin are tuned to the notes G D A E from lowest to highest.

Is there a orchestra made up entirely of violins called the Scottish fiddle orchestra?
The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra is the leading, and internationally best-known, example of Scottish traditional music orchestras. In performance its 80 players comprise around 50 to 60 fiddles (violins) plus 'cellos, double basses, accordions, flutes, piano, percussion and pipes. Fiddle Orchestras are active in many communities in Scotland, and in other parts of the world where Scottish culture and heritage are popular.
The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra was founded in 1980 by its Director of Music and inspiration, John Mason MBE. It is a voluntary organisation, and registered charity, which performs to the highest standards, and is widely known internationally through its recordings which are sold worldwide. More information, including its history, personnel, recordings and concert dates, is available on its website at www.sfo.org.uk, and on its Facebook page.
What are the rondalla instruments?
The instruments of the standard Filipino rondalla have similarities in structure and are played with a plectrum made out of turtle shell. Except for the guitar and bass guitar(double bass), all are 14-stringed consisting of six(6) sets of strings tuned in the intervals of fourths, each set consisting of 1, 2 or 3 string/s. The purpose of the doubling or tripling of strings is to produce better sound and increase tone volume. The main parts of the stringed instruments of the rondalla are basically the same. A hollow body(sound box) constructed of a sound board(top plate), which is attached to a back board(back plate) by side walls(rims) form the main body of the instrument. The sound board picks up and amplifies the vibrations of the strings. The nice-figured body(sound box) is attached to one end of a narrow neck against which the strings can be shortened by pressing the fingers on the fingerboard to vary the vibrating length and thus the pitch. The neck ends in the tuning head which has the worm and gear mechanism to adjust the tension of the strings when tuning the instrument. There is a string holder(tailpiece) at the bottom of the body and a bridge on which the strings are stretched, so that they can vibrate freely. The sound holes with a round shape, except the laud which is f-shape, have a great influence on the timbre of the instrument. Basically, they communicate the volume of air inside the instrument with the outside air which is the medium in which the waves are carried from the instrument. The size and openness of the holes influences the frequency of the vibrating mass of air within the instrument and therefore the selective reinforcement of certain notes. The holes also influence the flexibility of the soundboard and consequently affect its vibrational patterns. Tops, backs, and sides are carefully selected and graduated to enhance their natural attributes. Every piece of wood from the neck to the smallest brace is acoustically matched to obtain the highest performance from each instrument. The wood of langka, kamagong, narra, ballatinao, tanguile, and Philippine mahogany were generally used as materials for the construction of the instrument. Although the imported pine wood and rosewood continued to be used by some. ---- The standard Filipino rondalla instruments are: (Left to Right: Guitar, Laud, Bandurria, Octavina, Double Bass)
How do you tell how long your violin would need to be?
For students who are trying to determine which size violin to play, pick up the violin and place it on your shoulder and under your left jaw as you would normally play. Your left fingers should be able to curl around the scroll, and still have bend in your elbow. This is very important. Your arm should not be straight out, don't strain to curl your fingers around the scroll.
