What kind of music do you pluck the strings of a double bass?

Jazz and R&B are good for plucking. I've seen some folk artists use upright plucking too. Upright bass plucking is good for songs that aren't too heavy and have a relaxed feel.

Is the banjo Irish?

The banjo is not of Irish origin, but it is often used in Irish folk song. The Banjo is actually the most American instrument. It originated in Africa and came over with the slaves. One it arrived in America, the "non-slaves" decided to revamp the banjo to use European scales melodies. Over the years many folks came along and tweaked the banjo or played it different to get a unique sound. Earl Scruggs or Bela Fleck are two banjo players that either were or are very unique in their playing.

What type of wood did Antonio Stradivari use to make his violins?

Stradivari used what most of the masters used, maple for back sides neck and scroll, and spruce for the top. He did apparently engage in some experimentation as a very few of his instruments had the back sides and scroll made of poplar. I found this in the book: "

Did Jeremy Brett play the violin?

Some source says that Jeremy had played the violin until he was eight.

But in The Television Sherlock Holmes, Jeremy says "I can't play [the violin], in fact, but I have got pretty skillful at bowing the instrument. Mind you, to give the impression that I know what I'm doing, I do listen to the music for hours beforehand so that I have the feel of it. "

His violin performance was dubbed by Katherine Gowers. He should have made great effort for miming playing the violin and he did it very well.

Is an acoustic guitar a good guitar for beginners?

Not really.

That is, an acoustic guitar is not any more of a "beginner's" instrument than an electric guitar is. It might be cheaper, and it may be quieter (or possibly not: you can practice an electric guitar without actually plugging it in, or with headphones), both of which are reasons parents might choose to purchase a child an acoustic guitar instead of an electric one.

If you learn to master an acoustic, then you will have an easier time learning to play an electric. This is simply because acoustic guitars require more precision to make each note ring true.

Also: an acoustic requires more finger pressure and therefore more finger strength and calluses. An electric is easier on the finger tips, but is also more sensitive as far as technique. My best answer is to practice on both to develop the most versatility. But if sound is an issue, an electric is quieter if you don't plug it into an amp.

Is my antonius stradivarious cremonenfis faciebat anno 1728 violin real the number is not hand written and its been in my family at least 100 years?

First of all, I don't mean to be pessimistic, but the chances of you owning a Strad are slim to none. If you did own one, it would be worth millions of dollars, and the violin's tone (sound production) can tell you whether or not it could possibly be worth that much money. I you're still convinced that you do have a "real" Strad, I'm sorry to tell you that the label is incorrect if it says "Antonius Stradivarious Cremonenfis" because the correct name would actually be "Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis". In addition, if the label is not handwritten, then it is almost definitely a copy of a Strad because as I'm sure you know, Stradivarius did not have a computer (or any other machine of this sort) to print out little violin labels. Many modern luthiers make replicas of Stradivarius's work to try to match his instruments, but none have succeeded. Since your violin has been in your family for at least 100 years, the label was most likely made to trick violin collectors and buyers of that time into thinking that they were about to own a Strad, so that they would pay more money. Many other luthiers also made their own instruments and labeled them as Strads so that they would be bought. Right now, we have enough technology to tell if a Strad is authentic or not, so the old labels don't serve their intended purpose. It is also possible that this label could be from a completely different violin, and that the two labels were switched. Maybe the label from this violin got lost, so one a fake one was made to replace it. Believe me, everyone would love to have a Strad, but the only way to be completely sure is to get the violin authenticated.
