I checked just to be sure and, yes, there is a page 666 in the Bible, at least in my Bible there is. Just because this number is associated with the Antichrist does not mean it cannot be used to count things. Some buildings skip the 13th floor, but the Bible does not skip page 666.

There are various superstitions regarding this. Some say you will see a killer about to attack you. Others say you will see a ghost / ghoul / witch / zombie / ect. A popular tale (that involves a few mroe steps) will involve you seeing a dead girl, "Bloody Mary", who died looking into a mirror on Halloween night and comes back every Halloween night to see if her killer is looking back at her in the mirror.

Some people feel that sleeping with your head to the North (in the northern hemisphere) or South (in the southern hemisphere), helps align your body with magnetic poles and reduce the chance of you having insomnia. Although, other "experts" will tell you never to sleep with your head towards the north, because the magnetic forces will pull the good energy out of your body. However I could not find any documented scientific evidence of anything related to the direction of your sleeping patters. Additionally, several people believe that it is bad luck to sleep with your head facing East.

There is no scientific evidence to say which, if any, is better. There are however many charlatans that would be willing to convince you otherwise.

Perhaps this question will spark some lively discussion in the discussion area about personal preferences of the direction your head should face while you sleep. It would be interesting to hear from people who live in both the northern and southern hemispheres to see if they have different preferences. It also would be helpful for everyone interested in this subject to read about any scientific studies related to sleeping positions and directions.

A pocket full of posies is like a little pot pourri bag that the women kept in their pockets or blouses to try and weaken the smell of death and plague everywhere that they went.

'A-tish-oo!' is the sound someone makes when they sneeze. Now a day when you sneeze everyone will say to you, "bless you". This saying also comes from the plague, because when someone sneezed it was seen as an early sign of the plague, and people would say, "God Bless You!"

Saying 'we all fall down' is a child's way of saying, 'we are all dead!'

Today some people believe that sneezing is bad luck, and this is probably because it was seen as bad luck back in the days of the plague as well.

This is considered a very lucky nymber. It has both elements of wealth and health.

(Personnally I don't walk under the ladder when someone is painting up there; black cats don't worry me the least)

throwing a pinch of salt over one's left shoulder, may avoid you bad luck (like the ominous black cat) - Swing your crêpe back in the pan at la chandeleur, while holding a coin, will bring you money for the year round - kiss your partner at New Year under the mistletoe (a year of marital bliss).

The superstition is your in for bad luck if a black cat crosses your path.

There are no Buddhist superstitions although individuals may have their own private superstitions as in any religion.
