Losing Weight on a Surgery Diet?
When you are going in for surgery, you need to take your diet very seriously. Your diet before surgery is very important, since the types of foods you ingest within a certain time frame can impact many things. Not only can it make things "messier" when the anesthesia is applied, but a full stomach can lead to a number of different complications. You may require more anesthesia to go under successfully, and you may have a more violent reaction to the anesthesia after you wake up. This is why it is of the utmost importance that you watch your diet.

Yes, because when you need a transplant your sick. You can only get a transplant if you need it.
No I just found out you can't. If you were sick and you got a new organ that wasn't used to your body, that would be double the trouble. why? Because The bacteria from you being sick would affect your new organ. also it would be doubled bad because your other body parts (Around the new organ) would think that the new organ was trying to talk over you body. so they would attack the organ. but most people take medicine for that but they have to take it for the rest of there lives.

What is recovery time after a cystocele?
Recovery for most women is somewhat painful for about 3 to 4 days but with Tylenol #3 the pain is tolerable; after that there is still some pain but it is not severe. Worst part is you are not allowed to sit so you need to lay or stand.
As always, recovery from any surgery depends on the person's overall health, other conditions, ability to ambulate (walk), lung function and ability to cough effectively in the 24 hours post-op, how well the person understands and can follow post-op instructions, and how much the person is motivated and desires to have a good outcome.
Surgery is usually easier for younger women rather than elderly women.
How long does a lumpectomy take?
You know yourself better than anyone, but listen to your doctor and use common sense. My surgery was done on a Friday morning. I relaxed all weekend and went back to work (a desk job) on Monday. I was anxious to continue as normal a life as possible. A long-term painkiller was administered during surgery and although when it comes to pain, I usually "tough it out" rather than take any kind of drugs, so I was surprised to find I did need to take some of the vicodan that my surgeon prescribed -- at least for a day or two.
I think it is important to keep up your everyday routine as much as you can within the limits of your doctor's orders as well as using your own common sense. It is surgery and you don't want to open up the wound by doing something stupid. Building that rock wall or cleaning out the attic can wait a while! It will give you something to look forward to while you relax and recover!

What are the risks of quadruple heart bypass surgery?
Any surgery is risky. Believe it or not there is a high rate of success in heart surgery. Specialists for the heart have come a long way and are very adept at what they do and deaths are at a very low percentage. The most important thing is the patient has faith in them. If a patient is going in for ANY surgery and has ANY questions they should speak to their doctor or try to schedule a meeting with the heart surgeon. The patient has a right to know what is going to happen before, during and after heart surgery. Since this is a 3rd open heart bypass then the patient would find it frightening, but more comfortable about it than having to go through it the first time. The mind is a wonderful thing, so a good outlook for heart surgery of any sort is a must. Learning relaxation exercises (slow breathing, small walks if the specialist OKs this.) Even if a person can't walk they can listen to soft music, close their eyes and invision a beautiful place they would like to be and they don't have to take one step to do that. Believing in the faith of your choice is one of the strongest things a person has going for them. The patient should allow short visits from family and friends so they are not constantly alone with their fears. I know many people who have heart surgery and it's added many, many years onto their lives. Good luck & God Bless Marcy

How much pain is there post op an open umbilical hernia surgery?
Yes, the night after my surgery, just above my belly button (the incision is in my belly button) I had a lump that was just like the hernia that was there prior to surgery, I freaked out and called the DR in the middle of the night, scared that my hernia had popped back out. He got me in to see him the following morning and told me that it was a Hemotomoa, and that it would harden, calcify and dissolve on it's own. I just saw him again today and he told me the same thing. I had the surgery on the 9th of this month (december) and he said the same thing, well as i sit here in an umcomfortable situation tonight, I have just discovered that the Hemotomoa is harder and larger, I will be calling him first thing in the morning to see if this is something I should be concerned about or not. Will try and post an update after I talk to him in the morning.
What to expect after thyroid surgery?
I had my thyroid removed in December. I was sure to read all the bad news about thyroid removal to prepare myself for the worse! However, i have had some good results. I was out of work a week and a half, gained only 2 pounds in 7 months, and have a small scar about an inch long that continues to improve. I also was fortunate enough to have found the right level of synthroid after 2 doctor visits. So I am very happy with the results! My doctor advised me to not exceed 5 lbs in weight gain or loss in order to maintain the level of synthroid I take now. All is well!

What is the recovery time frame for a spine surgery?
While complete recovery after a spine fixation surgery takes a while, a patient may be released from the hospital within 5-10 days. Patients are also initially advised to avoid activities that may
place the bone graft at risk. This includes being aware of one’s posture, avoiding bending and lifting heavy objects. Care should be taken while getting in and out of bed. Patients are also
required to be especially careful while dressing, bathing, and wearing shoes.
Usually one can restart driving 6 weeks after surgery though your doctor must approve this first.
The main thing to remember while recovering from spine fixation treatment is that no matter what you do, it should not aggravate any pain in your back. If the activity you do results in further back pain, stop it immediately and consult your doctor.
