To install a new fuel pump you must first remove the muffler, and then the tank protector, and then disconnect all the fuel lines including the ones with the coupler on them that requires a special tool to do so, then you support the fuel tank, unbolt the fuel tank, lower the fuel tank slowly until you can disconnect the rest of the fuel lines and filler line, then remove the tank, remove the fuel pump from inside the tank and put the new assembly in where you took out the old one.
When installing the new pump assembly make sure you use a new tank seal or you will be doing all this again very soon.
