The pool should stay empty for as short a time as possible. When the pool is empty the walls are subject to relativley extreme changes in temperature, compared with the stable temperatures of water. Shrinking and expanding (with temperature changes) of the pool wall surface will result in cracking. You then face the joys and expense of repairing the cracks. The bottom line is: Empty the pool only when you need to, do whatever you intended to do while the pool is empty - and start refilling it immediately.

Just wanted to add that a pool left empty can "float"..that is to say it pops out of the ground, rising above ground level several inches or more. The ground surrounding the pool, especially if it is wet, is heavier than the pool surface, and puts pressure on the pool walls, which could cause tehm to crack, or "float" the pool. Having said that, I had my pool empty for a long time before I had it re-plastered and nothing happened to it. :)

This is a task that you should not tackle. This is a job for a professional with several years in dealing with black bottom pools. Some areas of the country have had good luck with what is known as a no-drain acid wash. Again, here, this is for someone who has done this for a number of years.

You can but I wouldn't recommend it. If you do I wouldn't swim in it for at least a day. I would use chlorine tablets or powder especially made for pools.

If you have a "chlorine generator" that requires salt in the water, ALWAYS refer to the manufacturers recommendations for the proper amount.

The first thing you must do is to turn the pump off and make sure it won;t come on while you have the feeder lid off. !!!! The second thing you want to do is make sure you do not inhale the chlorine gas that has accumulated within the tank as the lid is released. !!!! There is an o-ring or gasket within the lid or at the upper most outer rim of the feeder tank. This o-ring gets brittle with age and affects of the chlorine fumes. Determine the model and look for a replacement - get an extra one and keep in a cool dry place. Replace the o-ring using a silicone grease or at minimum vaseline on the o-ring. The o-ring should fit fairly snugly on the lip of the canister or sit within the lid without falling out. It may be possible that you will have to replace the o-ring yearly. Also while the lid is off check it for cracks. Replace the lid with the new o-ring installed and check for leaks.

Subject to the light unit at the right height in the wall, so it can be serviced from the pool deck. It takes about an hour to change the bulb £48-54 plus the bulb £39 for 300w Certikin or £39 for halogen.

Using a standard garden hose, it can take days to fill a 25,000 gallon pool. You might contact a company that fills pools for a fee so that you need not wait as long, and to prevent the additional cost on your water bill.

Observationally, once the liner is punctured, it takes only a matter of minutes to empty one.

It is about 644 lengths . Up and back 322 times. somewhere on the last lap you cross the 10 mile mark. I worked this out by first working out what 10 miles is in meters and then dividing 25 meters into that. there are about 1.609344 kilometers to each mile. 10 miles is 16093.44 meters.

Backwash valve is leaking by. More than likely it is a bad oring inside the valve. Or it was not place back into recirc mode completely.

you may have a leak on the return side of the filter. That includes all the plumbing from the filter or heater to the pool. The back wash valve may be obvious if the waste line ends close by. The back wash valve should be placed in the "filter" mode not the "recirculation" mode.

Clean out any bits and pieces and shock it. after that it should be fine.

There are 3 principal chemicals for lowering pH: muriatic acid, sodium bisulfate (dry acid) & CO2. If this is a commercial application then CO2 may be a viable source. The sodium bisulfate is dry acid which when mixed with water makes liquid acid but does not have the odor. Muriatic acid and sodium bisulfate both lower total alkalinity at hte same time as lowering the pH. CO2 may raise total alkalinity at the same time as lowering pH. The total alkalinity is important to have a stable pH which in turn is important to have a relatively constant pH for the proper effectiveness of the sanitizer (chlorine) Any other questions feel free to email me direct. Off peak would probably be referred to the time that the pool was used the least - - - fall to spring or the winter months would be off peak.

A 5ft pool would be VERY expensive. By that I mean in the thousands of dollars...

Walmart.com does have a 4.5ft pool for just under $700.00.

That is going to be the most reasonable choice.

After your pool is clear again, test the Ph of the water. You can purchase a test kit at your local pool or home and garden supply store. When the Ph of the water is at a safe level, you can dive in.

Almost all above ground pools include a video showing the full installation.

If you wanted to view the video BEFORE you purchase the pool (for exampole, to make sure that the installation process is within your skill level), I would suggest one of the following:

1. Contact the manufacturer of the pool that you are interested in. They will probably send you a video for the pool of your choice for a nominal fee (or maybe even free).

2. Contact your local pool dealer or pool supply store. They might have a video that they are willing to lend to you.

3. Some manufacturers have the installation instructions on their websites. It may not be a video but it will explain each installation step clearly.

You need more information. But, let's assume the pool is 8 feet deep at the deep end and 3 feet at the shallow end. If the pool is rectangular, the total volume will be 28,798 gallons of water.

Many insurance companies will require at least a 4 foot locking fence around the pool. Even if the company decides to write they policy, they may exclude liability coverage due to the pool being onthe property. Read you.r policy carefully and shop around.

To shock the pool, about a gallon. To just chlorinate, a quarter gallon, then measure the chlorine level with an OTO test kit. Keep the chlorine level between 1-3 PPM, and the pH at 7.2. You can adjust pH with plain old baking soda if the pH is too low, or add a little muriatic acid if the pH is too high.

I do. Use half as much. Pool chlorine is 12.5% sodium hypochlorite Laundry bleach that I use is 6% sodium hypochlorite. Sometimes I dilute the pool chlorine by one part water to one part pool chlorine and use it just like regular laundry bleach.

Linered or concrete style changes are relatively similar.

Linered. Remove liner, cut with a diamond blade the bottom leading to the deep end. Break the entire bottom into pieces. Dirty fill it leaving gravel on the top couple inches. Pour surface. Measure again for liner to bead (triangulation measuring is recommended A/B). If the bottom is to be a sport pool you may want to remove the entire bottom and dig it out a foot then pitch the wall 12/12 to the depth desired.

Concrete; similar except you need to bond the bottom sections so they dont split away with metal rods drilled in it as binders. Obviously etch the original concrete surfaces with muriatic acid so the new pour adheres. Bottoms on many concrete pools are poured after the walls in my experience retrofitting. If they are built otherwise you may need somebody else to advise you. This type of pool is rarely dropped an additional foot across its length and instead done as two tiers; one for children and another for adults with a net in between for volley ball, etc.
